Manager Software Engineering

C.H. Robinson is seeking a Manager Software Engineering to join our software development team. In this key position, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team responsible for building software functionality into our application platform/integrating 3rd party software into existing platform. You will help lead conversations with cross functional leaders to ensure projects are delivered on time and oversee bringing technical and business priorities into one plan, understanding upstream and downstream dependencies while providing written and verbal reporting on progress to plan.

**Responsibilities:**
The duties and responsibilities of this position consists of, but are not limited to, the following:
+ Work with product/business owners to develop strategy around individual features and ensure the team is aligned to our goals
+ Collaborate with cross functional technical leaders to bring projects from discovery phases into production
+ Identify and create ongoing value for our business through iterative delivery against assigned business goals and product vision
+ Partner with stakeholders and technical teams throughout the organization to create a vision for our capabilities and strategy for achieving the vision
+ Oversee bringing technical and business priorities into one plan, understanding upstream and downstream dependencies while providing written and verbal reporting on progress to plan
+ Ensure each initiative is staffed appropriately to meet end goals and resource appropriately, including securing resources across multiple teams
+ Follow enterprise goals around HPI's (critical/major outages)
+ Ensure that auditing for monitors and alerts are properly setup when the software doesn't operate as intended
+ Utilize AppDynamics for monitoring dashboards
+ Enforce code review process
+ Address production issues with a sense of urgency
+ Ensure we are hitting quarterly commits
+ Ensure we resolve bugs within identified LOS
+ Manage escalated issues
+ Define, document, communicate, and drive efficient processes and software development best practices by collaborating across C.H. Robinson, engaging with architects, product managers, project managers, software engineers, and leaders
+ Maintain and communicate crisp measures that quantify progress against our goals and objectives through effective presentations and score carding
**Team Leadership**
+ Organize team to effectively get work done
+ Drive and communicate to the team on role accountabilities, KPI’s, goals and service level agreements
+ Focus on team cycle time of cards
+ Help set timelines for features and deliverables for the team
+ Accountable for project deadlines and enforcing team member accountability and sense of urgency to the team projects
+ Actively assess performance and providing coaching/feedback to team members to sustain a high performing team and taking action on performance improvement plans as needed
+ Evaluate talent needs and fills these needs through developing internal bench strength and/or hiring, and onboarding
+ Effectively communicate by leveraging proper cadence of meetings (1:1’s, team meetings, etc.)
+ Understand business and tech enterprise goals and then work with Group Manager/Director to establish team goals and cascade to direct reports
+ Discuss and promote career development to build employee engagement
+ Provide input to ensure rewards and recognition are appropriately allocated based on individual and team performance/commitment
+ Manage annual merit programs for assigned team to align compensation with performance results
+ If applicable, provide support and input to the budget for the capability area and make recommendations that balance timely project delivery and cost effectiveness
+ Foster continuous learning, accountability, and innovation, striving for engineering excellence
+ Other duties or responsibilities as assigned according to the team and/or country specific requirements
**Required Qualifications:**
Required:
+ Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 4 years of equivalent work experience and a high school diploma/GED
+ Minimum 5 years of experience working in a technology role such as: software engineer, business analyst, quality assurance analyst, product manager, or technology project manager
+ Minimum 2 years of experience leading a team
+ Experience delivering business critical software functionality
+ Experience delivering software in an agile environment

+ Experience with software engineering concepts, such as relational databases, asynchronous data movement, object‑oriented programming, CI/CD (continuous integration / continuous deployment) practices, and/or distributed systems
+ Strategic orientation/planning, business savvy, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills
+ Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust, influence, and foster relationships with diverse team members; able to leverage relationships to drive consistency of approach and ensure delivery
