This role provides direct supervision to shop personnel, ensures maintenance activities are performed efficiently and safely, and supports the Location Manager with operational visibility. The manager plays a key role in maintaining the safety and reliability of the fleet, while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. **Key Responsibilities** + Schedule and manage fleet maintenance and repairs. + Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues. + Communicate vehicle availability with dispatch and operations teams. + Supervise and support shop staff, including hiring, training, performance management, and discipline. + Collaborate with the Location Manager and regional maintenance leadership on operational status, budgets, and reporting. + Monitor and manage repair orders, parts inventory, and fuel purchases. + Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company safety and maintenance standards. + Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment. + Oversee training and development of maintenance technicians. + Coordinate facility services (e.g., building upkeep, grounds maintenance). + Complete special projects and perform hands-on maintenance tasks as needed. **Minimum Qualifications** + High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred + Valid CDL with required endorsements + 5+ years of supervisory experience in a hands-on mechanical environment + Strong written and verbal communication skills + Basic computer proficiency + Experience with diesel engine and school bus maintenance preferred + Ability to lift 20–50 lbs as needed **Physical Requirements & Work Conditions** + Work is performed in a maintenance shop environment + Frequent physical activity including crouching and working under vehicles + Exposure to dirt, grease, and other typical shop conditions **Disclaimer** This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed.
