The Global Risk & Compliance Organization (“GRC”) is an independent risk management function, led by the Chief Risk Officer, with the objective of ensuring that American Express operates in a safe, sound, and fully compliant manner within all applicable regulatory expectations. GRC creates and maintains the overall risk management framework, performs independent risk management assessments, and monitors applicable risks.

GRC’s Enterprise Risk Management & Risk Oversight (ERM&RO) organization is seeking a Manager to join a newly created team driving Change Risk oversight across American Express. This role goes beyond traditional risk governance, offering the opportunity to design and embed new change risk management processes, shape policies and standards, and build a body of knowledge that strengthens how we manage change across the enterprise. Success requires more than box-checking, it calls for a strategic thinker who can influence and partner with stakeholders, challenge the status quo, and help transform the way we govern risk in a dynamic, global environment.

Responsibilities

·       Shape and advance the development, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of an enterprise change governance framework, applying risk requirements tailored to change initiative classifications and ensuring governance evolves with the needs of the business.

Proactively identify and prioritize risk-related gaps (including those highlighted by regulators) while driving timely, effective, and sustainable remediation that reduces exposures to acceptable levels and prevents recurrence.Synthesize and communicate risk data, emerging trends, and insights through structured, impactful reporting to senior leadership and the board of directors, ensuring decision-makers receive timely, accurate, and actionable information.Guide and influence first-line stakeholders in designing, refining, and maintaining procedures that effectively embed the change governance framework into business operations, balancing rigor with practical execution.Maintain a deep understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., Heightened Standards, FFIEC, PMBOK), ensuring that risk practices not only comply with regulatory expectations but also strengthen the enterprise’s resilience and transformation efforts.Design and deliver engaging training and awareness programs for first- and second-line professionals, senior management, and the board, building organizational capability and embedding a strong culture of risk-aware transformation.

Qualifications:

Experience

Minimum of 2 years of experience in risk, compliance, legal, or regulatory roles (or related), ideally in a Global Systemically Important Banks (GSIBs); or risk related management consulting firmsExperience with project/program management and governance required. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plusBachelor’s degree required, advanced degree a plusGlobal Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) certification is a plus

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
