This position is based on our site in Uppsala, where Thermo Fisher Scientific develops, manufactures, and markets complete blood test systems to support the clinical diagnosis and monitoring of allergy, asthma, and autoimmune diseases. We are hiring a manager for the Quality Control Multiplex and Autoimmunity team within the Product Quality department. In this role you will have the opportunity to lead a team of 11 dedicated and knowledgeable employees who are responsible for performing in-process controls, quality controls of end products as well as maintaining and developing our quality control process.
A day in the Life
As the manager your primary task is to lead, plan, and develop the organization within your area of responsibility and to steer the business towards agreed objectives. You will have direct personnel responsibility, including planning, implementing, and lead employee development, performance, and goals through dialogue with employees and fellow managers. The position also encompasses budget responsibility and FTE forecasting.
You will support your team with a mentoring approach and proactively work on continuous business improvement in terms of quality and efficiency. You will collaborate with adjacent groups such as R&D, QA Release, Planning, and Global QA, which requires that you can understand the QC process and its connection to other processes and are quality-conscious and have ability to work systematically. This role is diverse, requiring independent management of your responsibilities and team.
You are encouraged to contribute to the overall development of the department. Effective cooperation with other managers within the department and across company functions is essential.
The company and department apply PPI/Lean Manufacturing principles, making key performance indicators and the visualization of goals and activities important tools.
Keys to Success
Education
Higher education (Master’s degree or equivalent) with a biology/chemical engineering or natural science focus.
Experience
Confirmed experience in a management role within the pharmaceutical/medical technology industry.
Experience of working according to QSR and ISO standards
Experience of LEAN work is advantageous.
