Responsibilities

Provides administrative leadership and organization to PRIISM - Perioperative Information Management, Implementation, and Analytics Program by supporting the project management and business analyst's office and selected departmental initiatives. This position will be responsible for leading and demonstrating a project focused culture, advising and providing mentorship to staff regarding project management and business analysis practices, methods and standards, while working closely with leaders. Outlines the Mayo philosophies on business process improvement and service excellence, defines project management tools and their application in this environment, and lay out the overall strategies for managing the project portfolio. The incumbent will provide leadership for Business Analysts and Project Managers assigned to work unit/department initiatives and will be expected to stimulate thinking by posing new ways of doing things, change conventional wisdom and to help embed systems thinking into the Mayo culture. The position will require an excellent working knowledge of project management and business analysis techniques, and the ability to work with leaders in clinical practice areas and administrative areas to implement wide ranging changes to our processes. This individual will need to develop relationships with external partners to maintain knowledge of and benchmark external competitors. Keeps abreast of current trends and the latest advances. Responsible for categorizing and prioritizing projects in-flight and proposed and assist leadership in insuring that all projects are staffed appropriately with Business Analysts and Project Managers.

This position is a combination of remote and on-site work; individual must live within driving distance to the Mayo Clinic Rochester campus.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree with 10 years experience in business analysis, program or project management, business or healthcare administration or a Master's degree with 7 years experience business analysis, program or project management, business or healthcare administration. At least 5 of the 10 years must include working in a leadership role. 

Education preference: project management, business administration, management. Demonstrated knowledge of implementing broad-based institutional initiatives, problem-solving methodologies, continuous improvement methods and project management skills are required. The incumbent will act as a change agent and will require excellent interpersonal skills to include presentation, negotiation, persuasion, team facilitation, and written communications skills. 

This position also requires broad-based human resource management experience and knowledge in hiring, performance management, team building, recognition, and staff development. Active certification in Project Management Professional (PMP)or Business Analysis (CBAP) is required, or completion of a PMP or CBAP within 2 years of accepting the position.

The preferred candidate will have experience in people and change management, the ability to manage projects involving teams across specialties, organization, forward thinking and the ability to produce results.
