Manager Plant Engineering Services (Small Acute Care)

Your leadership ensures that critical building systems operate efficiently and safely—supporting exceptional patient care when it matters most. + A mission-driven organization focused on improving the health of our communities + Opportunities to lead, mentor, and develop a skilled Plant Engineering Services team + A collaborative hospital environment with strong leadership and clinical partnerships + Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits + A stable, long-term career with opportunities for professional growth What You'll Do + Plan, organize, supervise, coordinate, and control plant operations and facility maintenance functions, including physical structures, HVAC, mechanical systems, utilities, and grounds + Ensure all systems are maintained in a safe, compliant, and fully operative condition + Provide leadership and accountability for labor management, materials control, and departmental budgeting + Train and develop Plant Engineering Services personnel, with a strong emphasis on safety, compliance, and performance excellence + Coordinate and oversee work performed by outside vendors and contractors + Manage maintenance contracts for equipment, machinery, and building systems + Serve as a change agent, role model, facilitator, and coach for team members across all shifts + Lead efforts to improve quality, productivity, and efficiency within the department + Partner effectively with hospital leadership, physicians, nursing, and other departments to support clinical operations and patient experience + Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements, including The Joint Commission, DNV, CMS, and applicable codes What We're Looking For Education + High School Diploma or GED, required + Bachelor’s Degree, preferred Experience + Five years of experience in healthcare engineering and operations, required + Leadership or lead technician experience, preferred Licensure / Certification + Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM), preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities + Thorough knowledge of the design, operation, and repair of mechanical, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and utility systems, including medical gas and fire protection systems + Strong understanding of building codes, electrical codes, fire codes, and healthcare regulatory standards + Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematic drawings + Proficiency with data analysis, organization, and presentation + Strong computer skills, including spreadsheet and word processing applications + Demonstrated ability to work effectively with physicians, administration, nursing, departmental leaders, patients, families, and external agencies + Proven leadership skills, strong work ethic, and the ability to manage multiple priorities + Ability to build, engage, and lead a self-directed, high-performing team Why Choose Novant Health?
