Preferred Qualification and Experience: specialist in blood bank or extensive experience in transfusion services; hospital lab experience; experience in supporting quality and compliance programs in a laboratory.
JOB SUMMARY
The Manager of Lab Quality supports the system Laboratory Quality Program Director in running the laboratory quality assurance, quality improvement, and compliance programs. Manages and maintains the day-to-day programs required to maintain compliance with both institutional and federal regulatory and accreditation requirements. Assumes the duties of the Laboratory Quality Program Director in his/her absence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Administers either manually or electronically the document control system for all BSWH laboratories to include management of due dates for review, revision of documents, etc.
Oversees the process to create system or division level documents for the lab to include, quality and safety, as well as all specific lab sections (Chem, Heme, etc.)
Implements standards for BSWH laboratories for new hire training and annual competency assessment, and designs/implements system wide forms for such documentation.
Co-chairs the Laboratory Quality Sub-Councils.
Oversees the development of standard templates and reporting of monthly metrics for both system and division level metrics as well as facility specific.
Is available, either in-person of by teleconference for all facility CAP inspections to answer questions about document control, policies, procedures, etc. Coordinates mock CAP inspections for all BSWH Laboratories.
Coordinates the use of MTS (or alternatives) for BSWH Laboratories.
Schedules and ensures documentation of annual HIPAA audits.
