Position Overview
 

Mercy Care is seeking a visionary and hands-on Manager of Information Systems to lead our technology strategy and operations. This role is central to our mission of making it easier for staff to do hard things—because the work we do is, by definition, difficult. The Information Systems team is critical to this promise, and we are looking for a leader who can guide us into the future.

The Manager will oversee all aspects of Mercy Care’s technological infrastructure, present and future, by guiding a talented team and partnering with leaders across the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring that our systems support clinical, operational, and strategic decision-making, and that our technology enables us to expand our services and impact.

Essential Functions

Serve as the principal architect of Mercy Care’s technology infrastructure.

Develop and implement multi-year strategic plans aligned with Mercy Care’s mission and growth.

Assess and optimize the use of EPIC and related EMR technologies, including integration across medical and non-medical services.

Direct day-to-day operations of the Information Systems department.

Manage technical systems including servers, networking, desktop computing, database management, telecommunications, and data security.

Ensure reliable remote and internet access, collaborating with Trinity Health as needed.

Partner with organizational leaders to anticipate and plan for future technological needs.

Identify and implement new technologies that improve efficiency, effectiveness, and service delivery.

Support Mercy Care’s strategic expansion, including new facilities and services.

Lead efforts to deepen the organization’s use of data and analytics.

Promote data-driven approaches to address social determinants of health and racial inequities.

Design and enforce IS policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and data security standards.

Manage medical records systems and ensure proper documentation and privacy practices.

Build and lead a high-performing IS team.

Provide mentorship, training, and performance evaluation to IS staff.

Determine departmental staffing requirements and assist in recruitment and selection.

Monitor department work hours, assignments, and staffing levels.

Evaluate, coach, counsel, and discipline department staff.

Drive employee retention through engagement strategies and team development.

Demonstrate and promote Mercy Care’s mission, vision, and values in all behaviors and decisions.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; Master’s degree and professional certifications preferred.

Minimum 7 years of experience in information systems management, with direct leadership in a multi-site healthcare setting.

Proven experience with EPIC EMR systems and healthcare IT infrastructure.

Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across departments and teams.

Experience in strategic planning, budgeting, vendor management, and compliance.
