Manager of Benefits, Compensation & HR Data
**Description** Summary: The Manager, Benefits, Compensation and HRIS manages the hospital’s benefits, compensation and HRIS functions and activities. Ensures the hospital’s benefits programs are administered and managed in a fair, accurate and equitable manner consistent with plan designs. Serves as a trusted advisor and internal consultant relative to compensation and benefit program administration, associated federal and state employment laws, and HRIS administration. Our benefit programs include the hospital’s defined benefit retirement plan, defined contribution and voluntary retirement saving program, health, dental, short and long term disability insurance, life insurance and optional voluntary benefit programs. For the compensation program, the Manager ensures that the program is administered in a fair, accurate and equitable manner consistent with the organization’s compensation policy. Also serves as the HRIS expert and Entity team leader in conjunction with UNC Information Services Division (ISD) and UNC Shared Services. Leads and supports system implementations and enhancements and services as a key resource to all enterprise HR systems. Responsibilities: 1. Benefits Management: a. Manages overall plan administration of all hospital benefits programs including relationships with external suppliers. Acts as an escalation point for issue resolution. b. Leads benefit plans renewal, implementation, and contracting with new vendors. c. Manages the hospital’s annual enrollment process. Conducts processes to ensure benefit programs are aligned with employee interest and value. d. Create content for employee communications/newsletters, and benefit policies. e. Effectively communicates the provisions and value of benefit programs so that employees make informed benefit choices. f. Manages the performance of benefit administrators/agents of record who perform or provide services on behalf of the hospitals benefit programs. g. Manages the performance of the hospital’s benefit programs to ensure programs are providing appropriate service and are operating within defined budget parameters. h. Serves as an internal consultant relative to compensation and benefit program policies, procedures as well as federal and state employment laws. i. Manages the organization’s compliance with respect to employee requests for leave of absences consistent with policy and regulations. Collaborates with Employee Health teammates as needed. j. Recognizes emerging regulatory changes and benefits trends, analyzes implications and recommends appropriate actions. k. Supports the development of metrics to evaluate benefits and plan experience and identify opportunities for improvement in benefits offerings. 2. Compensation Management. a. Ensures the proper and consistent application of the hospital’s market equity, performance management and compensation philosophy. b. Reviews position descriptions for newly created, proposed, or changed positions prior to recruitment for a position, c. In consultation with the appropriate department director, evaluates and develops recommended salary ranges for newly created positions. d. Reviews and updates position evaluations as required to ensure proper maintenance and continuation of the program, including proper placement of positions into job families. e. Ensures all position descriptions are up to date and in appropriate format and in compliance with all regulatory requirements (FLSA, etc.). f. Assesses current market conditions and information relative to applicable salary movements in comparable external markets. g. Provides recommendations, at least annually, regarding revisions to job grades based on a comprehensive market review. h. Identifies and initiates appropriate actions to resolve deviations from the compensation policy. 3. HRIS Management. a. Is responsible for creating, maintaining and presenting monthly HR metrics. b. Assumes the lead role in implementing HRIS systems and completing related upgrades. c. Serves as the key resource and provides ongoing communication and education to users relative to human resource/payroll software applications and utilization. d. Evaluates systems to ensure the maximum use of software system capability. Identifies opportunities to maximize system capabilities. e. Is responsible for the integrity and accuracy of data, and the efficiency of HRIS related activities. WAYNE Other information: Education Bachelor’s degree in related discipline. Master’s degree preferred. Licensure/Certification CEBS desired Experience Minimum 3 years of progressive management experience working with benefit or compensation program administration required.
