Position Summary:
The activity manager is responsible for directing the development, implementation, supervision and ongoing evaluation of the activities program. This includes contributing to the comprehensive care plan goals and approaches that are individualized to match the skills, abilities, and interests/preferences of each resident.
Directing the activity program includes scheduling of activities, both individual and groups, direction of staff in implementing the programs, and monitoring/evaluating resident response to the programs to determine program effectiveness.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

a. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.
b. Must be able to handle information in a confidential manner at all times.
c. Must be able to read, write, type, and be computer literate in the use of basic computer software programs.
d. Must be mentally alert and have the ability to effectively plan and organize assignments in the most efficient and accurate manner.
e. Physical effort includes sitting, walking, standing, bending, reaching above shoulders, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
f. Pleasant personality is essential.
g. Individual should be adaptable and able to remain calm and think clearly in emergency situations.
h. Must be proficient in the English language.
i. Must have the manual dexterity to use the telephone and operate a motor vehicle.
j. Must be self-motivated and function independently.
2. IMPACT ON REVENUE/EXPENSES/BUDGET:
a. Controlling - Develops and implements an annual budget for the department and monitors throughout the year.
3. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
a. BS degree, with a major in recreation, recreation education, or recreational therapy Preferred
b. Two years’ experience in activities or therapeutic recreation.
4. COMPLEXITY:
a. Understand moderately complex material.
b. The ability to provide, communicate, explain, basic information.
5. TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:
a. Must have a valid New York State driver license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
b. Must have knowledge of a specialized function through formal training.
c. May make procedure changes to adapt to unusual situations.
6. PROBLEM SOLVING:
a. Uses LEAN thinking and LEAN tools to approach and resolve identified opportunities for improvement.
b. Less obvious problems are solved through, organization, review and proper selection of standard procedures.
7. MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISORY LEVEL:
a. Supervisory responsibilities include staff management, coordination including hiring and review with input on performance evaluations, hiring, and discipline.
8. IMPACT OF ACTIONS/DECISIONS:
a. Limited departmental impact only; work product may be used across organization.
Pay Range: $29.05 - $35.70
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
