How will you make an impact in this role?
Corporate Development executes strategically relevant and financially sound transactions for American Express, which enhance profitability, supplement business growth, and optimize the Company’s use of capital. The Corporate Development team is composed of American Express Ventures, the group that sources and executes strategic investments, the M&A team which is responsible for strategy development, negotiations and execution for inorganic transactions (acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures), and the Integration team responsible for integrating acquired assets and separating assets as part of strategic acquisitions and divestures.
The Manager will be a member of the Mergers & Acquisitions group tasked with supporting AXP growth and profitability through M&A transactions. The position presents opportunities to work with the AXP business units to identify, socialize and execute M&A transactions.
Key Responsibilities
Work with business units to evaluate M&A opportunities against identified strategiesAssist deal teams in evaluating potential transactions from strategic, operational and financial perspectivesDevelop detailed financial models and analyses (e.g., valuation, financial impact, etc.) for M&A evaluationsCreate materials and analyses to support transaction negotiations Preparation of transaction evaluation materials to communicate recommendations to Senior ManagementFind opportunities to improve operational efficiencies (e.g., standardize M&A processes) as well as socialize and implement improvementsMinimum Qualifications
Minimum 2 – 4 years of experience. Proven experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital or corporate development experience preferred.Strong financial, analytical and valuation skills with an ability to interpret financial statements and build financial models as well as an ability to develop and communicate analyses. Full understanding of valuation techniques. Strong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to collaborate with others at all levels of the organization and drive transaction processes and deliverables forward with project teamsExcellent project management skills Strong intellectual curiosity for AXP businesses and external environmentMBA or CPA is preferred
Salary Range: $89,250.00 to $150,250.00 annually + bonus + benefits
