MANAGER INVENTORY ACCOUNTING SYSTEMS

Essential Function

 

This role focuses primarily on the critical and analytical leadership of the Inventory Accounting Strategic Initiative Systems Support team. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of inventory data across SBH systems, enabling informed decision-making for stakeholders throughout the organization. The role evaluates the impact of the company’s strategic initiatives on Inventory Accounting processes and system, provides supports and leads User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for inventory-related projects. The position oversees the analysis of inventory transactions and trends to ensure inventory accuracy while monitoring inventory systems.  The position reviews and approves corrective inventory transactions, data recovery efforts, and root cause resolutions.  The position acts as a liaison between Inventory Accounting and other departments (Accounting, IT, and Operations) by presenting inventory findings in cross-functional meetings and strategic discussions.  The position builds and maintains strong relationships with IT developers, architects, and other system stakeholders.  The position leads, mentors, and develops a high-performing team of analysts. 

This is not a remote position as this position is hybrid working onsite 3 days a week at the SBH Support Center- locating at Legacy West Plano.

Primary Duties

Operational Leadership and Oversight:  Plan, organize, and oversee the day-to-day activities of a team of inventory analysts, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives and operational excellence. Provide hands-on guidance and support in navigating complex business scenarios, fostering analytical growth and problem-solving capabilities within the team.  Leverage an understanding of accounting principles and internal controls to evaluate inventory discrepancies and recommend appropriate corrective actions. Monitor and analyze inventory transactions, adjustments, and trends to maintain accuracy and consistency across systems. Implement process improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and support inventory strategic decision-making across the organization.

Team Development & Capability Building: Collaborate with leadership to establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs), operational metrics, and standardized procedures that guide team performance and ensure consistency. Design and implement tools and processes that automate and streamline analytical workflows, enhancing team productivity and data accuracy. Provide ongoing coaching and mentorship, both informally through daily interactions and formally through structured performance reviews and feedback cycles to support professional development and elevate team capabilities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Systems Integration: Serve as a point of contact for tracking, documenting, and communicating inventory-related issues across departments. Assist in evaluating the impact of company-wide initiatives on Inventory Accounting processes and systems. Participate in and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for inventory-related system changes, ensuring functionality aligns with business needs. Create and maintain effective dashboards and reports tailored to various stakeholders. Proactively develop new reporting solutions as business needs evolve. Identify opportunities for system improvements that enhance inventory accuracy and efficiency. 

Provide analytical and operational support for special projects and ad hoc requests from management, contributing insights and solutions that align with departmental and organizational goals.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an accounting, finance, or audit environment, or 5 years of relevant experience within the Company.Understanding of inventory accounting and inventory transaction impacts to the general ledger.Experience with BlueYonder PMM, Oracle xStore POS, Manhattan Active, Oracle EBS preferred.Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.Working knowledge of SQL for large data analysis.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities.Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Must be able to integrate an understanding of accounting with systems/IT and business processes.

Willingness to travel occasionally, up to 5%.

 Working Conditions /Physical Requirements

The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, books, small parts; using a keyboard, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
