<Job Descriptions>

American Express provides card payment programs and solutions in the B2B space for small businesses, mid-sized businesses, and large enterprises.

This position will evolve existing business models and develop and implement new B2B business models (e.g., bill card payments) that include FinTech, driving merchant acquisition in the B2B supply chain and maximizing American Express's market share. It is the responsibility to increase the amount of American Express card charge volume and revenue in B2B.

This position will be responsible for analyzing, strategizing, and leading projects for the expansion of B2B businesses, such as where the market is available, how to acquire merchants, and what solutions are needed to do so. We will also work closely with card issuers and other stakeholders to provide added value to buyers and suppliers across our B2B network and maximize the value of American Express.

To achieve the goal, an attitude of pursuing results, analytical skills, logical and strategic thinking, negotiation skills, and a customer-first mindset are required. In addition, you need to involve many teams and lead stakeholders towards the goal, so this position needs to have high communication skills, including English.

<Key Responsibilities>

1. Build comprehensive Japan B2B Strategy to maximize B2B charge volume and revenue by leveraging existing business scheme, new business model and innovations.

2. Identify opportunities to capitalize business strategies and innovations with external partnerships such as payment solution provides and fintech, prioritize and develop go to market plan, and execute.

3. Develop strong relationships with external partners to maximize B2B model with an appropriate operation in align with merchant policies and the process of Third-Party Management.

4. Deeply partner with internal stakeholders such as Risk, Pricing, Compliance, General Counsel’s Office, Sales, Product and Marketing to address complex contractual matters and business needs.

 

Qualifications (Must have)

-  Highly analytical and data driven, but also have a passion for creativity and forward-thinking flair

-  Logical & strategic thinking skills

-  Out of Box thinking with an analytical approach through market trend, customer needs, external data and information to build the strategy and identify opportunities.

-  Highly motivated to try new challenges

-  Results oriented and good project management

-  Team player and excellent communication skills to work with colleagues across the lines

-  Self-motivator who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and can handle multiple projects simultaneously

-  Proficiency in MS Office, notably Excel and PowerPoint

-  Excellent oral and written communication in Japanese/English

Qualifications (Nice to have)

-  Multiple years of proven success in business strategy building, business development or related fields.

-  Solid understanding of card economics, financial concepts

-  Solid understanding of B2B business

-  Team management experience
