Role Summary As a member of Rivian’s Exterior Mechanisms and Glazing Engineering team, you will play a key role in shaping innovation and impactful products from concept through volume production. Your contributions will help drive the development of high-performing and sustainable solutions. Exterior Mechanisms and Glazing Engineering is a place to be innovative and creative while contributing to a culture of trust and continuous improvement. You will lead a team to deliver components and systems to program cost, weight, and functional targets, helping to grow the organization while also having ownership of your team’s systems. Responsibilities Grow and develop a highly technical and tactical product development team while delivering break-through technology and capability in Rivian products Define and drive Exterior Mechanisms and Glazing deliverables for Rivian vehicles from concept through production ensuring achievement of performance, timing, and commercial targets Lead a collaborative development with studio designers to achieve design themes Manage internal resources to drive cross functional alignment ensuring seamless collaboration with internal teams, suppliers, and key stakeholders to align to broader company goals and drive success in area of responsibility Strategically define and manage the engineering bill of materials and perform change management using Enovia as a part management tool Guide and define the development of DFMEAs with the cross functional team and cascade dependencies and learnings to cross functional partners Guide the development of and approve Product Validation plans, ensure coordinated validation activities, and sign off system validation results Exhibit “Rivian Compass” values in everything you do   Qualifications Demonstration of strong people management leadership skills with a collaborative nature, empathy, the ability to manage pressure, and drive priorities Strong understanding of engineering first principles, with the fundamentals of complex mechanisms and glazings Strong working knowledge of FMVSS, ECE, NCAP and other automotive evaluation and regulatory requirements Experience working effectively with cross-functional partners including Studio, Supply Chain, Supplier Development, Manufacturing, and other Product Development functions Detailed understanding of the manufacturing, materials, and processes required to produce applicable components, as well as commercial and financial awareness Experience in CAD design with the ability to navigate as needed Minimum of 10 years of experience in Engineering Product Development Minimum of 3 years of experience leading teams as a people manager Minimum of Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline Demonstration of the following: Development of team members with a focus on personal and professional growth Strong understanding of engineering first principles Eagerness to learn with constant curiosity Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to present to leadership clearly and concisely Ability to self-direct while managing ambiguity Ability to travel to vehicle and component launch locations Pay Disclosure Salary Range Irvine-Based Applicants: $137,800-$172,200 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, and other factors permitted by law). Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental, and vision insurance packages for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Full Time Employee coverage is effective on the first day of employment. Part-Time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
