Job Description

Position Purpose:

Position Purpose:The Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager is responsible for overseeing the EH&S and Department of Transportation (DOT) programs within Veolia North America Contract Operations. This crucial position ensures compliance with pertinent health, safety, DOT, and environmental regulations, internal standards, and established business performance metrics. The EH&S Manager is specifically charged with monitoring, supporting, and attaining EH&S performance objectives across the entirety of VNA’s Contract Operations portfolio. Primary areas of focus include fostering and strengthening the organization's safety culture, developing EH&S training initiatives, and collaborating effectively with key stakeholders on the proactive mitigation and management of injuries and environmental incidents.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

Contribute to the development and sustainment of a robust safety culture across the organization

Oversee all aspects of the Workers' Compensation program, including claims management and collaboration with third-party administrators (TPAs) and medical providers.

Direct the comprehensive injury and illness prevention management program to minimize risk and improve employee health outcomes.

Provide assistance with and monitor incident investigations, including the execution of corrective actions.

Oversee the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) training program, encompassing planning, scheduling, tracking, identifying necessary training resources, and reporting.

Generate and monitor reports concerning Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve complex EH&S challenges

Direct and/or contribute to specialized projects pertaining to EH&S 

Manage and disseminate information pertaining to EH&S communications, compliance schedules, and procedures

Maintain routine engagement with key external vendors, suppliers, and partners to ensure alignment on strategic objectives

Collaborate with EH&S Directors to update or create EH&S related standards, guidelines, and procedures.

Establish and track trends pertaining to the EH&S organizational performance.

Work Environment:

Primarily in an office type or home based setting

May occasionally work outdoors subject to environmental conditions

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental, and/or related degree preferred 

3-5 years of EH&S and DOT  program management experience required

Knowledge of EH&S and DOT regulations and requirements

Experience in EH&S and DOT program development and management

Experience in tracking and reporting on EH&S related key performance indicators 

Experience in managing employee EH&S training for a large matrix organization

Experience in managing employee occupational injuries/illness with emphasis on management of Worker’s Compensation claims (claims management of complex claims, working with insurance representatives, medical providers, 3rd party injury management companies, internal stakeholders, etc.)

Skills, Abilities & Attributes:

Exceptional organizational, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Strong coaching, teaching, and writing abilities for effective communication across all levels of the organization.

Proficiency in Google Platforms (preferred) 

Demonstrated ability to self-organize, prioritize, and drive a personal work schedule while managing changing and potentially conflicting priorities.

Maintained specialized knowledge of current safety and environmental regulations, as well as industry consensus guidelines.

While performing the duties of this job, position requires:

Long periods of time sitting in front of and working on a computer with the ability to use hands and fingers, handle, or feel.

Be able to reach with hands and arms.

Ability to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.

The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to distinguish color, close vision and distance vision.

Travel Requirements: 

This position will rarely (< 10% annually) overnight travel

Additional Information

Pay Range: $85000 to $105000 Per Year.
