How will you make an impact in this role?

As a classic in-house lawyer, you will independently advise the various business units (card issuance, acquiring, travel & lifestyle services) of American Express in Germany and Austria in day-to-day operations.You will provide legal support for international projects affecting Austria and Germany. You will independently review, draft and negotiate contracts and general terms and conditions with your internal clients, handle complaints and (out-of-court) legal disputes (if necessary, with the assistance of external lawyers). In addition, you will observe legislation and case law and coordinate the necessary adjustments to internal standards and processes. If required, you will work closely with Governance Affairs to represent American Express' interests in legislative processes.

Required Qualifications

Degree as a lawyer: 2. Staatsexamen in German law, with relevant professional experience of at least 3 years, ideally in an international environment or in a US group of companiesExcellent knowledge of German and EnglishKnowledge and experience in the following areas of law: financial services, consumer protection, data protection, antimony laundering, competition, commercial and contracts.Structured, analytical, independent way of working and ability to communicate work results convincinglyAffinity for digital issues and processes and a good understanding of businessInterest in familiarizing yourself with new topics and areas of responsibilityConfident appearance
