About the Role

The Manager Compliance Legal Anti-corruption, Trade & Regulatory leads Compliance Legal activities for BHP’s Commercial (includes the Marketing, Maritime, Procurement and Global Business Services functions) and Technology functions, focusing on anti-corruption, sanctions, export controls, anti-money laundering (AML), anti-boycott and regulatory issues relating to commodities trading, market conduct and conflicts of interest. The role includes analysing and assessing the compliance and regulatory risks arising from BHP’s commercial activities, managing compliance strategies and frameworks, and working to protect BHP’s reputation while supporting social value creation.

 

Leads a team that provides legal advice to Commercial and Technology on anti-corruption, sanctions, export controls, AML, anti-boycott, and regulatory issues relating to commodities trading, market conduct, and conflicts of interest. Mentors and develops members of the Commercial Compliance Legal team including by introducing team members to new Compliance areas. Drafts reports on compliance-related issues to the Risk Audit Committee of the Board of Directors, other relevant boards, and Commercial leaders Engages with and advises senior stakeholders in Commercial, Senior China-based employees and senior Compliance personnel  About You

 

Experience & Technical Competencies

 

Advising on high-risk and complex transactions, including M&A Providing verbal and written advice to the business Collaborating with senior stakeholders across multiple countries Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills Expertise in providing legal advice on anti-corruption, sanctions, AML, export controls, market conduct, and investigations Understanding commercial dynamics and working cross-functionally to deliver projects

 

Qualifications

 

Law degree, preferably with U.S. qualifications Minimum 12 years compliance-related legal experience Experience managing investigations English fluency About Our Process
