Job Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned Power Plant Commissioning Manager with deep expertise in the commissioning and startup of thermal power plants (WHR/AFBC/biomass-based), captive power units, and utility systems associated with cement and steel manufacturing facilities. The candidate must demonstrate leadership in handling complete mechanical, electrical, and control system commissioning from cold start to synchronization and performance testing.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage all pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and performance testing activities for power plant systems including:Waste Heat Recovery Boilers (WHRB)AFBC/CFBC BoilersBiomass-fired boilersSteam turbines and auxiliariesAir/Gas/ID/FD Fans, ESPs, bag filters, ash handlingBalance of Plant (BOP) systems – cooling towers, fuel handling, water treatment, compressed air, etc.Plan and oversee mechanical completion, system flushing, hydro/pneumatic testing, and readiness for commissioning.Coordinate with EPC contractors, OEMs, third-party inspectors, and client teams for seamless integration.Lead functional testing, interlock checking, logic validation with DCS/PLC/SCADA teams.Ensure safety and compliance during boiler light-up, turbine rolling, synchronization, and load trials.Drive the execution of Performance Guarantee Tests (PGT) and system handover as per contractual obligations.Conduct root cause analysis of startup issues and implement corrective actions with relevant stakeholders.Review and approve commissioning documentation including P&IDs, SOPs, checklists, red-line markups, and system dossiers.

Core Competencies:

Strong technical expertise in boiler/turbine/generator (BTG) commissioning across WHR, biomass, and captive power setups.Familiarity with electrical system commissioning including switchgear, transformers, MCCs, and synchronizing systems.Hands-on experience with instrumentation and control systems: loop testing, calibration, logic testing, DCS interface.Understanding of safety systems (trip matrix, ESD logic), LOTO, PTW, confined space entry, and fire protection systems.Proven experience in commissioning power systems for integrated cement plants and steel manufacturing facilities.Strong knowledge of standards such as ASME, NFPA, IEC, IEEE, IS codes related to power systems.

Desired Candidate Profile:

Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Power Engineering or equivalent.Minimum 15 years of experience in power plant commissioning, especially WHR, biomass, captive/co-generation plants.Hands-on project experience in cement plant power units, steel mill CPPs, or renewable/biomass installations.Excellent team management, leadership, and multi-vendor coordination skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to lead meetings, safety reviews, and technical clarifications.Willingness to work on remote or international project sites on a long-term or rotational basis.
