Manager Clinical Pharmacy

Job Summary and Responsibilities

Position Summary:

While supporting the goals and objectives of the hospital and upholding the ethics of the profession of pharmacy, the Manager Clinical Pharmacy facilitates the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of systems that promote desirable patient outcomes through the use of safe, cost-effective drug therapies.  This position serves as a professional practice leader, educator, and mentor and has an advanced practice role functioning as a clinical specialist both within the pharmacy and within interdisciplinary teams.  The position will report to the Director of Pharmacy.  This position will play a key role in managing operations, logistics, finance, safety, and risk management for the pharmacy department.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy requiredMinimum of 3 years of recent pharmacy (or similar) work experienceActive State Pharmacist License in good standing in the state in which the employee works: PHARM:CADemonstrated change management, standardization and leadership development skills requiredDemonstrated ability to create enthusiasm for new programs and different approaches to existing programs requiredDemonstrated quality improvement competencies required Demonstrated understanding of utilization and productivity in a variety of clinical settings requiredMaintains a positive leadership role within the departmentCoordinates and manages clinical functions of all pharmacy personnelAssists in performance evaluation and competency assessment of pharmacists, residents, and studentsDevelops, implements, and evaluates quality improvement and clinical pathways/programs related to medication use to ensure optimal patient careAssists in the preparation and presentation of data for various committees such as Antimicrobial Stewardship, Infection Control, and Medication SafetyCoordinates Drug Utilization Evaluations and quality measurement, assessment, and improvement activities as requiredEvaluates clinical programs/services provided and implements improvements using formal systematic methods of problem solving and streamlining to maximize valueAssists in preparation and presentation of drug formulary and policy reviews for the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.  Contributes to formulary management and works with health care providers to ensure formulary complianceParticipates in Strategic and Operational Planning activities and the development of the Pharmacy Department’s annual budgetEducates, mentors, and evaluates pharmacists, pharmacy residents, and/or pharmacy students to develop and improve skills necessary for providing pharmaceutical care

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 year in a leadership position or pharmacy residency completed or supplemental Masters Degree (MBA, MS, MHA, etc)Where You'll Work
