Manager Cash Accounting

Position Purpose:

The primary purpose of this role is to lead cash accounting activities for The Home Depot, with responsibility for ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and integrity of all cash‑related transactions. This position oversees both Cash Depository and Cash Disbursements, directly supporting store cash handling processes as well as enterprise‑wide cash movements. Cash Depository responsibilities include accounting for store deposits, identifying and researching issues, and resolving root causes in partnership with cross‑functional teams. Cash Disbursements encompass all incoming and outgoing payments for the organization, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with the SOX controls.

The individual in this role is expected to manage high‑volume data and competing priorities while maintaining a strong focus on risk mitigation, reconciliation, and financial accuracy. Success in this role requires a detail‑oriented and analytical mindset, along with the ability to simplify complex processes and lead effectively through a team. This role requires comfort working cross‑functionally with Stores, Operations, Treasury, IT, and Finance partners to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement. This position is instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of The Home Depot’s cash accounting.


Key Responsibilities:

Planning and executing the month end close processReview the monthly profit and loss statements; verify accuracy of the accounting entriesMonitor and review THD policies and verify the are in compliance with GAAP.Review account reconciliations to verify compliance with Finance Account Rec StandardsExtensive involvement with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance team ; review and compliance certification of accounting procedures.Supervise managing team of 5-6 Sr Accountants and a staff of 20 accountants.


Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

Typically reports to Director - Finance, Financial Reporting, North American AccountingAccountable for the management of a department or functional group through subordinate supervisors/managers and for all personnel issues -- including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates.


Travel Requirements:

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.


Working Conditions:

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.


Minimum Qualifications:

Must be eighteen years of age or older.Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.


Preferred Qualifications:

7-8 years of experience in accounting or related field is preferredExperience with cash processes in SAP S/4 Hana including Blackline is desiredExperience in different technologies like AI, Machine Learning, and business query & analytics tools is highly desiredAbility to identify defects through data analysis and other mechanisms and drive fixes to root cause issues through direct and indirect influenceDemonstrated leadership skills and strong ability to delve into details, analyze, and succinctly communicate findings and actions from findingsThe person in this role will be a dynamic leader with abilities to adapt quickly and lead through changeExperience in Order to Cash process


Minimum Education:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
