Responsibilities

The incumbent to the position possesses strong product management skills and leads large teams using agile processes and a people empowering style. The incumbent has a broad understanding of the potential of AI and a deep appreciation of the challenges of implementing AI in a healthcare environment. The AI Manager works closely with practice and business leaders across the enterprise to support an end-to-end AI lifecycle from ideation through deployment/commercialization and ongoing product operations. The incumbent will apply their knowledge of AI to solving real-world healthcare problems and finding opportunities for improvement across multiple projects, teams and business units. 


Responsibilities: Develops and fosters Dept/Specialty Council AI strategies, goals, and objectives with practice and business leaders. Provides leadership in the design, selection, and application of AI systems and development tools. Oversees and manages a portfolio of AI and IT systems projects. Provides executive oversight of the departmental Quality Management Systems and FDA Software as a Medical Device submission, 510-K clearance, and pre-market approval processes.  Develops and maintains internal and external client/vendor/peer relationships including contract and agreement negotiations. Identifies and reports philanthropic opportunities to the Office of Development related to AI. Assists and actively engages in the project planning teams and assures coordination or requirements gathering, planning, contracting, execution, acceptance, and ongoing support. Manages the departmental resources required and engaged in all phases of AI development. Recruits, trains, develops and manages data science, informatics, education, quality assurance and other AI allied health staff and professionals. Directs and sustains AI system lifecycle management and prioritizes new initiatives with practice leadership. Serves as leader and/or member of departmental and institutional committees. 
Forecasts future resource demands related to people, technology, budget and business and design needs. Implement solutions to meet these needs based on strategic plan, portfolio priorities and lifecycle management. Responsible for the AI systems operating expense budget and annual planning. Directs the development of business analytics and informatics tools for measuring, monitoring, and reporting product, program, financial, and AI systems performance and reliability. Leads day-to-day enterprise level activities required to operationalize and commercialize AI by working directly with product owners, informaticists, data scientists, IT, vendors and quality and regulatory teams. Designs, builds, and supports the technical, administrative, and operational processes required to guide stakeholders from idea through commercialization and/or post-implementation support. 



Qualifications

Master’s Degree in a domain-relevant field such as business or healthcare administration, product management, bioinformatics, clinical informatics, biomedical engineering, computer science, or data science and 4 years' experience working with Artificial Intelligence products, processes and/or tools.  A bachelor's degree with a combination of directly-related experience and/or education may be considered.  Two years' experience in line management of staff and contractors, ideally using agile development processes. Two years' experience with healthcare data, software implementation process, and regulatory compliance. 

Additional Qualifications

AI algorithm development experience is a plus. Strong preference for candidates with healthcare AI implementation experience. Strong preference for experience implementing new enterprise process solutions.  Experience with OKRs (Objectives and Key Results tools) and delivering on them within scheduled time frame. Experience developing collaborative relationships and partnerships with business and technology departments that drive business results, including the ability to translate between technical and non-technical audiences. Understanding of digital practice and electronic health records and experience delivering well integrated, effective product on a regular cadence. Ability to translate business requirements into technical plans in order to analyze data, interpret results and recommend solutions to enable teams to make decisions around optimizing or understanding product investments. Strong problem solving, quantitative and analytical abilities. Strong ability to initiate and drive projects with tenacity to deliver results in a complex environment and to manage numerous processes, people and projects simultaneously. Excellent communication skills to effectively deliver presentations as well as communicate clearly and concisely in writing.
