Manager Accounts Payable
The Manager of Accounts Payable is a strategic leader responsible for driving excellence in AP operations, ensuring timely and accurate vendor payments, and delivering top-tier service across the organization. As a key member of the Global Business Services team, this role blends financial expertise with innovation; leading process improvements, implementing smart technologies, and fostering a self-service culture. With regular engagement at the executive level, the AP Manager provides actionable insights, oversees compliance, and builds strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to maintain high customer satisfaction and operational integrity. **What You’ll Do** **Strategic Initiatives & Projects** + Create and direct peer-to-peer (P2P) strategic initiatives and projects. + Drive efficiency and cost-saving strategies across AP operations. + Leverage automation tools, continuous improvement efforts, and industry best practices. + Lead or participate in special projects as needed. **Operational Leadership & Financial Oversight** + Lead and educate the team on end-to-end AP functions for the Americas. + Make decisions and recommendations on all AP-related matters. + Manage customer/vendor relations, AP disbursements, 1099s, and tax-related issues. + Supervise accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance for AP. + Ensure accurate and timely financial recordings and month-end closings. + Develop and maintain systems, procedures, and policies aligned with company guidelines. **Compliance & Controls** + Maintain a controlled environment for transaction processing and fund disbursements. + Ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) requirements. + Serve as liaison with government agencies and auditors to meet reporting needs. **Team Management & Development** + Direct and lead AP staff to execute operational functions effectively. + Perform full managerial duties including hiring, training, coaching, and performance management. + Motivate and reward employees within budget guidelines. + Build strong relationships with AP stakeholders across the organization to deliver proactive service. **Invoice Processing & Stakeholder Engagement** + Oversee efficient and accurate processing of supplier invoices (expense and merchandise). + Act as primary contact for internal and external stakeholders to resolve AP issues. + Ensure seamless integration between AP, Procurement, and Treasury for end-to-end process support. **What We’re Looking For** + 10 or more years of experience in management, with progression in responsible positions and 5 or more years of experience managing a team of direct reports (in multiple geographies and a shared services global environment - Desired) + 7 or more years of experience in Accounts Payable (within a large, complex, publicly listed organization) + Direct experience managing change with new Accounts Payable systems and/or processes + SAP and Microsoft Office experience + A proven ability to build strong business relationships (beyond the Finance team) and effectively manage the needs of multiple stakeholder groups + A player/coach mentality - Capable of thinking strategically and rolling-up sleeves and performing the work Goodyear is one of the world's largest tire companies.
