About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Retail finance team in Boots Opticians, reporting into the Head of Finance - Commercial & Operations.
The role partners the Retail and Operations teams and is important to ensuring the Opticians business makes robust, value decisions.
Shape and influence decision making by performance insight and challenge, alongside ownership and cost management for the Retail and Operations functions.
Key responsibilities
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with the Retail and Operations teams and wider Boots Opticians finance teamHolding the Retail and Operations teams to account to deliver in-year financial commitments, budget and 3 year plan whilst maintaining strong partnering relationshipsReporting and analysis on wide-ranging business initiatives and store/regional metrics, providing insight on the trends and drivers impacting performance at macro and store level to influence decision making Working with our FP&A and Financial Control teams to ensure rigorous financial planning and reporting processes (monthly performance, forecast, budget, 3 year plan) for the Retail and Operations functions including store level budgetsRobust management of the Retail and Operations cost base to facilitate and support informed decision making, ensuring spend remains on track and is focused on areas of greatest return, as well as identification of opportunities for cost savingsExplaining key finance concepts to non-finance colleagues, upskilling the Retail and Operations teams in financial acumenLine management and development for two direct reports
What you'll need to have
· Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with post qualification experience, ideally including business partnering
· Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
· Commercial experience, able to identify practical solutions and improve performance
· High energy and resilience, with ability to manage competing priorities and perform effectively under pressure
