This position will manage a team of area managers including chemists and technicians in manufacturing environment with scientific expertise to ensure successful transfer of new products from development to manufacturing. This position includes laboratory roles for validation and qualification of new chemicals, transferring of new products and processes, lead on chemistry related projects, support GCS functions & failure investigation of commercialized products; support processes to ensure performance within expected parameters, coordinates and work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Compliance, and Operations, to achieve production goals and maintain high-quality standards. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** **Safety and Compliance:** + Ensure strict adherence to chemical handling and safety protocols in both the production and laboratory environments. + Ensure chemical compliance with local and other regulatory bodies. + Provide updated records/ data to relevant parties and regulatory bodies. + Manage waste disposal and hazardous material protocols, ensuring environmental safety compliance. + Direct and train production staff to ensure adherence to manufacturing standards and safety regulations. + Address and mitigate any safety hazards in the area. **Production Management:** + Planning, organizing, and managing the chemical laboratory and chemical production processes. + Ensure production targets are met within the specified time and budget constraints. + Monitor the daily operations of the manufacturing floor to ensure efficiency and productivity. + Provide updated records/ data to relevant parties, e.g. quality, logistics and production control to support a smooth cooperation and effective communication among all relevant departments. + Monitor and ensure physical and system information are accurate and updated. + Perform other functions as necessary or as assigned by director. **Laboratory Operations:** + Manage laboratory technicians in conducting tests, analysis, and research for chemical production. + Oversee the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment, ensuring precision and reliability in testing processes. + Ensure laboratory practices comply with industry standards and safety regulations. + Prepare reports based on test results and collaborate with production teams for support and improvements. **Quality Control:** + Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure products meet company standards, customer expectations and regulatory specifications. + Review and analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specification and operating or production problems. + Conduct regular inspections and audits of the production processes. + Address and resolve any issues related to product quality or laboratory results. **Team Leadership & Coordination:** + Organize, manage, communicate, and take actions to ensure efficient and effective operations. + Lead, mentor, and develop a team of laboratory and production staff, ensuring a high-performance culture. + Coordinate and work with applicable functions for daily, weekly, monthly activities to ensure manufacturing operations run according to established facility specifications and KPIs. + Foster a positive and productive work environment. + Coordinate with the engineering and R&D departments to ensure seamless integration of new product into the manufacturing process. + Management support, e.g. engagement, staffing, performance appraisal, motivation, and training. **Process Improvement:** + Identify areas for process improvements and implement solutions to optimize efficiency and reduce costs. + Keep up to date with the latest chemical production technologies, lab techniques, and industry trends. + Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing projects. **Inventory Management:** + Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, produced chemicals, and laboratory supplies. + Coordinate with the procurement department to ensure timely availability of materials and chemicals. + Manage the storage and handling of hazardous materials and chemicals in compliance with safety regulations. **Documentation and Reporting:** + Maintain accurate records of production activities, including work orders, inventory levels, and quality control reports. + Prepare and present regular reports on production performance, quality issues, and improvement initiatives to senior management. **RESPONSIBILITY SCOPE:** + Operate from OpCo goals and targets. + Job is managerial to the extent that daily work directions and instructions are provided to the department. + Decisions are made within prescribed operating guidelines. + Accountable for budget preparation and compliance with operating budget. + Accountability for assets. + Informally make recommendations concerning planning. + Recurring work situations with occasional variations from the norm. + Involves a moderate degree of complexity. + Contacts are normally made with others inside and outside OpCo in different functions and regions. + Contacts are usually with immediate associates and director. **QUALIFICATIONS & TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:** + Bachelor’s degree or minimum of 8 years’ experience Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. + At least 8 years’ experience in chemical manufacturing, preferably in laboratory and related functions. + Minimum of 5 years of experience in managerial role. + Strong understanding of chemical production with extensive knowledge of chemical production processes, such as batch production, continuous production, or custom chemical synthesis. + Familiarity with laboratory testing techniques, such as titration, spectroscopy, chromatography, Silica and pH measurement. + Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) tools and techniques. + Able to communicate effectively using English language skill in a technical level. + In-depth understanding of ISO 9001 and/or other relevant quality management standards. + Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). + Knowledge of manufacturing process with Oracle ERP, AGILE PLM, QMS is advantageous. + Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. + Excellent leadership and team management skills. + Great attention to detail and organizational skills. + Take initiative, dedicated, and hardworking. + Strategic thinking and root cause problem solving mindset. **WORKING ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS:** The duties and responsibilities are generally performed in laboratory and chemical manufacturing environments. Daily activities involve hazardous chemicals in proximity. The position generally involves occasional sitting; frequent standing, occasional walking; moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; frequent kneeling, twisting, and balancing; occasional climbing; and, frequent reaching, pushing/pulling, grasping, and operation of equipment and machinery. The environmental conditions generally include ambient inside temperature with sufficient lighting levels.
