Role Summary RV Tech is seeking a highly motivated and adaptable Manager, Trade Compliance to establish and lead our end-to-end import and export operations and compliance efforts. This role is pivotal in ensuring the continuous flow of critical parts for our innovative LabCar builds and development programs, while building foundational trade processes from the ground up. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment, possessing a strong inclination for building in undefined spaces, and a desire to expand their trade compliance expertise across all facets. This role will initially manage all trade compliance activities, with the potential to grow and mentor a direct report over time. Responsibilities Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing optimization of RV Tech's import and export compliance policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to U.S. and Canadian regulations. Manage end-to-end import and export operations, including HTSUS classification and partner government agency (PGA) requirements (e.g., NHTSA, EPA, FDA). Serve as the primary point of contact for VWG brand logistics and customs teams (Audi, VW, Scout, Porsche, etc.) to coordinate inbound and outbound part shipments and resolve customs-related issues. Actively identify and resolve complex trade compliance challenges for incoming shipments, including ad-hoc and unique prototype requests, often with limited lead time. Own the relationship and performance metrics with RV Tech's customs brokers (e.g., DSV, UPS) and freight forwarders. Collaborate cross-functionally with RV Tech's Engineering, Product, Finance, Legal, and Supply Chain teams to ensure compliant import and future export strategies. Support compliance with broader trade regulations and proactively identify potential risks and mitigate them. Develop and implement internal training and awareness programs on RV Tech's trade regulations and best practices. Report on trade compliance status, risks, and progress to senior leadership. Contribute to defining the long-term organizational strategy for RV Tech Trade Compliance, including potential for a direct report in the future. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in import/export compliance, with foundational experience in the automotive, EV, or high-tech manufacturing industry. Strong working knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, import programs (e.g., HTSUS classification), and related international trade laws. Demonstrated experience in building and optimizing processes in ambiguous or startup environments. Comfortable working with limited supervision and possessing a strong desire to take ownership and solve complex problems independently. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including international partners. Ability to clearly articulate complex trade concepts to non-experts. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to risk mitigation. US Customs Broker License or equivalent certification OR a strong commitment to obtain within 12-18 months of hire. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with global trade management tools. Experience with CBP audits and origin qualification procedures. Exposure to various aspects of trade compliance beyond core imports (e.g., export controls). Proficiency in German (verbal) is a plus, but not required. Pay Disclosure Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $135,800 - $169,800 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
