The opportunity:


Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Manager, Tax Planning and Transfer Pricing to join our fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative in-house tax department. This role offers the chance to work for a global company, develop best practices, enhance technical tax skills, and collaborate cross-functionally with various departments.

 

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

 

Develop and implement international tax and transfer pricing strategies to optimize global tax positions and manage tax risks. This includes teaming with outside tax advisors and the Smurfit Westrock tax team to analyze US and non-US tax consequences and model tax costs of proposed strategiesAssist in integrating legacy Smurfit Kappa and WestRock organizational structures from a tax and transfer pricing perspectiveCollaborate with internal stakeholders, including operations, legal, accounting, and treasury to provide transfer pricing and tax guidance to support business decisionsAssist with Company’s responses to tax authorities’ inquiries including data gathering and developing strategies to respond to controversy Research tax technical matters Review international tax calculations prepared by third-party service providers for the quarterly and annual reporting process and annual compliance process Monitor ongoing tax legislation and analyze potential impacts to the CompanyIdentify and design opportunities for process improvement to improve efficiency and accuracy 

 

 

What you need to succeed:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Tax. Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation and/or CPA preferred.4 - 7 years of experience within a tax department of a large US multinational company, a public accounting firm or environment with exposure to the different aspects of taxation.Strong skills with Microsoft Office products required Ability to identify and execute process improvement initiativesStrong analytical, communication and critical thinking skills Demonstrated initiative; motivated to exceed expectations
