As a manager, savings, you will be responsible for overseeing the administration and compliance of both U.S. 401(k) plans and Canadian RRSP programs. This role bridges cross-border benefits and requires expertise in retirement savings regulations, plan operations, and employee support in both the United States and Canada. 

As program manager, savings, your key responsibilities will be:

Plan AdministrationManage day-to-day operations of U.S. 401(k) and Canadian RRSP/DPSP plans, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.Coordinate contributions, withdrawals, loans, and distributions according to plan rules.Partner with payroll and HR teams to ensure timely and accurate processing of employee and employer contributions.Compliance & ReportingEnsure adherence to ERISA, IRS, and Department of Labor requirements for U.S. 401(k) plans.Ensure compliance with CRA regulations for Canadian RRSP programs.Prepare and review annual filings (e.g., Form 5500, nondiscrimination testing, CRA reporting).Maintain plan documents, policies, and procedures.Coordinate regular Committee meetingsEmployee SupportServe as the primary contact for employees regarding plan eligibility, enrollment, investment options, and account management.Conduct employee education sessions and provide resources to promote retirement readiness.Respond to inquiries from employees, auditors, and external partners in a timely and professional manner.Vendor ManagementLiaise with plan providers, recordkeepers, trustees, and auditors in both the U.S. and Canada.Review vendor service levels and recommend improvements.Continuous ImprovementMonitor industry trends, legislation, and best practices in retirement benefits.Recommend plan enhancements to support organizational goals and improve employee experience.Ad Hoc WorkSupport projects as they ariseProvide backup support for other savings programs including emergency savings, Deferred compensation, student loan management, etc

We’d love to hear from people with:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).5+ years of experience in retirement plan administration, with direct exposure to both U.S. 401(k) and Canadian RRSP programs.Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS, DOL, and CRA rules and regulations.Experience with payroll integration and retirement plan recordkeeping systems.Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support employee education and vendor relations.Professional certifications such as QKA, CEBS, or APA considered an asset.

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above.  For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

 

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.  At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
