Manager, Retrofit Projects
Oglethorpe Power Headquarters, Tucker, GA 30084, US | Salary | 147,100-183,000 per year | Full Time | Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k Match, Parental Leave, Educational Assistance, Annual Performance Bonus, PTO, and Volunteer Time Off The Manager of Retrofit Projects is responsible for overseeing Oglethorpe Power Corporation's (OPC) retrofit project portfolio and related Project Management Office (PMO) processes. This includes leading the retrofit capital budget, supporting OPC Operations and Technical Services, and ensuring effective planning, execution, and reporting of all retrofit initiatives across OPC's existing fleet. This role manages a team responsible for delivering complex capital projects from inception through completion-covering project development, engineering/design, procurement, construction, commissioning, startup, and testing. The Manager will regularly report on progress and performance to OPC senior leadership, the Construction Projects Committee, and the OPC Board. A key focus of the role is ensuring all projects meet safety, environmental, budget, schedule, and quality expectations. Job Duties: + Lead and manage a team of project managers overseeing multiple concurrent retrofit capital projects. + Provide program oversight and strategic direction for all retrofit initiatives within OPC's operations fleet. + Manage and support the implementation of PMO processes, including supervising the PMO Process Project Manager. + Oversee budgeting, scheduling, forecasting, and reporting functions related to retrofit projects. + Develop and deliver reports, presentations, and briefings to senior executives, the Board, and external stakeholders. + Coordinate with Plant Operations and Technical Services leadership to ensure project alignment, feedback integration, and effective execution. + Assist in contract negotiations for procurement, construction, and consulting services; support resolution of contract disputes as needed. + Ensure consistent and accurate input into corporate reporting tools such as the Long-Range Engineering Plan and Construction Work Plan. + Maintain oversight of project controls for all assigned retrofit projects using matrixed resources. + Continuously improve program execution through stakeholder engagement and performance reviews. Required Qualifications: Education : + A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. + An MBA is a plus. + Requisite experience may be considered in place of a B.S degree. Experience : 10+ years of experience in major industrial or power projects and/or design of such facilities with increasing levels of responsibility, including supervisory experience. OR Equivalent Experience : 14+ years of experience working at large power plants involving maintenance, capital/retrofit projects, and budget management. Specialized Skills : + Must have extensive project management experience and have work experience in the utility industry, possessing a good working knowledge of power plants. + They must demonstrate a strong knowledge of project management methodologies with the ability to work with a wide range of individuals, including executive management and Board members. + They must demonstrate strong leadership skills in the management of department associates. + Polished interpersonal skills/ability to effectively interface and influence, and ability to work in a team environment with a results-oriented style. Licenses, Registrations, and/or Certifications : No special licenses, certifications, or registrations required; however, PE is desirable. Travel : Approximately 20%, including overnight stays at vendor sites, engineering offices, or project locations. Unusual hours: Willingness to work irregular hours as needed to support project execution.
