The Opportunity
We are seeking a strategic, high-level leader with a proven track record of successful project management. This position has primary leadership responsibility for managing and leading the daily responsibilities of the project management department.
How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:
Responsible for the performance of project management; schedule and manage work activities ensuring that job requirements are achievedThorough understanding of project management duties and perform all duties as required (back-up, workload balance, etc.)Responsible for employee development; coach, mentor, train, and conduct performance reviewsResponsible for HR functions related to the project management department; participate in hiring, employee evaluations, promotion and disciplinary processesFoster strong relationships with internal customers (Sales, Design, etc…) and external customers Travel to customer locations and Smurfit Westrock facilities as neededSupport new technology (software, hardware and new systems.) Be an active participant in the process and assume ultimate training responsibility for team. Support and participate in process improvements as requiredDirect and participate in launches, special project pricing, project management, and other projects as requiredManage teams with focus on policy and strategy implementation.May manage teams in multiple locationsTake on projects with little to no guidanceAbility to discern the requestAbility to anticipate the desired feedback that was unspoken / unknownDetermine needs for broad-based Continuous Improvement projectsIdentify / understand the needIdentify Subject Matter ExpertsDrive solutions through SMART frameworkSpecific; Measurable; Achievable, Realistic; Time-BoundTrain and implement CI initiativesOther duties as assignedWhat you need to succeed:
High school diploma or GED required; Post-secondary education preferred 5-10 years’ experience in industry or management experienceExperience in printing or packaging preferredExcellent written and oral communication skills required Project management, problem solving, and analytical skillsExcellent organizational & time management skillsAbility to multitask and complete & delegate tasks efficiently and accurately Attention to detail and ability to prioritize is essentialMust be proactive, a self-starter/takes initiative Ability to resolve conflicts, provide feedback, and lead teams effectively Provide guidance in workload balance of team is essentialPersonal computer experience and knowledge of Windows applications and Microsoft OfficeAbility to work with cost systems and estimating reportsWhat we offer:
