Your Impact as PHI Manager
As the Manager of Personal Health Insurance, you'll be at the forefront of driving operational excellence and innovation in our New Business and Underwriting teams. Your role will be crucial in:
Leading and developing a team of 5 direct reports, fostering a high-performance culture
Spearheading lean management initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and client experience
Cultivating a high-performing team through mentorship, coaching, and talent development
Leveraging data-driven insights to optimize operations and drive strategic decision-making
Building strong relationships with key stakeholders to navigate complex challenges and drive business growth
Leading the implementation of cutting-edge technologies and processes to transform our operations
Managing multiple projects simultaneously and setting clear performance metrics
What You Bring to the Table
The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader with:
5+ years of experience managing small to mid-sized teams in process-heavy environments
Proven track record in leading and motivating high-performing teams and improving outcomes in challenging groups
Strategic mindset with the ability to align operational strategies with broader business goals
Expertise in underwriting, risk evaluation, and data analysis
Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for continuous improvement
Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
Adaptability and resilience in fast-paced, changing environments
In-depth knowledge of Individual Insurance products, processes, and services
Experience in insurance/financial services preferred, but candidates from other operational industries (healthcare ops, call centre, claims/benefits, group retirement, banking, telco) are welcome
As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only as the position includes managing both French and English-speaking staff (Quebec and outside Quebec) and providing daily support to the team

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
