Manager, Inventory Control
Overview Please note this position is based in our Orlando Distribution Center. The Manager of Inventory Management is responsible for overseeing inventory accuracy and optimization across assigned distribution centers. This role involves implementing processes, analyzing data, and supervising a team to ensure effective inventory management practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in inventory planning, supplier coordination, and compliance, with a focus on continuous improvement and cost management. Overview of Responsibilities Inventory Accuracy: Ensure high levels of inventory accuracy across all assigned distribution centers through regular audits and reconciliation. Develop and implement strategies to minimize discrepancies and enhance inventory reliability. Inventory Management: Oversee all aspects of inventory management, including receiving, storage, and distribution processes. Maintain optimal inventory levels to meet operational needs while minimizing excess stock. Process Implementation: Design and implement effective inventory management processes and procedures. Ensure that all team members are trained on new processes and adhere to established protocols. Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze inventory data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Prepare and present regular reports on inventory performance to senior management. Team Supervision: Supervise and lead the inventory management team, providing direction, support, and performance feedback. Foster a positive and productive work environment that encourages teamwork and accountability. Staff Training: Develop and deliver training programs for staff on inventory management best practices and technologies. Ensure ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and knowledge. Inventory Planning: Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop accurate inventory forecasts and plans. Monitor inventory levels and adjust strategies as necessary to align with business needs. Supplier Coordination: Work closely with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and resolve any inventory-related issues. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to support inventory management efforts. Process Improvement: Continuously assess and improve inventory management processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to streamline operations. Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards related to inventory management. Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to compliance protocols. Technology Utilization: Leverage inventory management systems and technology to improve accuracy and efficiency. Stay updated on industry trends and technologies that could enhance inventory management processes. Cost Management: Monitor inventory-related costs and identify opportunities for cost savings. Develop and manage budgets related to inventory management activities. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Equivalent years of experience. 5+ years of experience in inventory management or related roles, with a focus on team supervision and process improvement. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools and inventory management software. Excellent leadership and team-building abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of compliance and regulatory standards in inventory management. Physical Requirements This position will work in a distribution center. Typically, this environment is subject to: Exposure to extreme temperature changes, moisture, noise, odors, and moving equipment. Running forklifts or pallet jacks on occasion Lifting, pushing, pulling, and/or carrying up to 75 lbs. Travel Requirements Managers of Inventory Management will be required to travel for the following purposes: Quarterly scheduled visits to Distribution Centers in their assigned region and others as needed: East Coast: Florida, Texas, Mid-Atlantic West Coast: California, Arizona, Colorado Ad-hoc travel required for Inventory coverage and training and onboarding direct reports.
