About the Job PetSmart is seeking a Tax Manager, to manage sales, use, indirect and other related taxes. This is a critical position in the tax department at a multinational company with a variety of complex tax matters. Responsibilities: Be the primary liaison with PwC who is performing insourced tax services for PetSmart that include sales/use/gross receipts/VAT/GST compliance and audit defense work Lead two other internal PetSmart associates in addition to the support from the PwC insourced team Provide guidance and selected review of PwC’s work product Work with other teams at PetSmart to identify issues, perform research, and document results to manage tax risk and minimize tax obligations Review, assist, or prepare accounting and finance activities, such as, journal entries, reconciliations, forecasts, or budgets Lead the outsourced businesses licensing function Monitor legislation, regulatory, and judicial activity impacting areas of responsibility Work with other outside tax advisors, financial statement auditors, and tax jurisdiction auditors Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree Minimum of five years of sales/use/indirect tax experience in a retail environment Broad base of business and accounting acumen High degree of technical proficiency: ability to quickly learn and maximize the use of technology and systems along with developing processes around them Demonstrate the ability to embrace and thrive in change and is willing to perform a variety of tasks Desired requirements: CMI certificate or CPA license Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or other business-related degree Public accounting experience Business licensing experience ERP experience—particularly SAP About the Culture At PetSmart, we work hard to create a culture where every associate feels like they truly belong and we celebrate the unique stories, backgrounds, and experiences our associates share.
