Manager, Finance - Backstage Cost Control

We are currently seeking a Manager Finance, Backstage Cost Control to join our National Finance team. As the Manager Finance, Backstage Cost Control, your main responsibilities will be: **Coach a team to control and advise on Backstage Full Cost to Serve (compensation & contractors)** : + Advise HR & Finance leadership on our people strategy and associated financial planning, including multi-year strategy development and annual business planning and budgets + Partner with HR and across Finance to ensure investments and other commitments have the appropriate resource plan + Implement controls on consulting and organization structure changes to ensure alignment with our strategies and acceptable use expectations **Own Backstage Finance activities for all functions** : + Ensure accurate recording of financial transactions and control adherence + Develop for leadership approval acceptable spend guidelines for all major spends + Assist with forecast updates and annual budgeting process + Partner with key spend owners to develop zero-based budgets that align to our acceptable spend principles + Optimize processes and reporting to drive a cost-conscious culture and minimize the overhead cost-burden on Empire + Develop processes and internal skillsets in managing large datasets and distilling policy compliance and value-for-money assessments + Assist with project work as required to support cost savings initiatives + Identify and execute on process improvement opportunities + Act as coach and mentor for Financial Analysts Support team members **What you have to offer:** + A minimum of 5 years related work experience. + University Degree in Finance or any related field. + Completion of a professional accounting designation (CPA) is preferred. + Prior people leadership experience is preferred. + Bilingual (French, English) is preferred. \#LI-CC1#LI-Hybrid **Who we are:** We started in a small town in Nova Scotia but we are now in communities of all sizes across this great country.
