The Manager of the Discovery Field Application Scientist Team (West Region) will have responsibility for delivering outstanding pre- and post-sales support to our North America customer base in the Omics (primarily proteomics, metabolomics & lipidomics) markets. Primary responsibility will be the support of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry customers with additional responsibility for related technologies (e.g. ion chromatography, sample preparation, chromatography consumables, etc.). The successful candidate will build a diverse team of specialists and empower them to address customer problems creatively. The ability to connect successfully with a wide variety of groups both across Thermo Fisher Scientific (sales, vertical marketing, product support, etc.) and within the larger team of sales support managers is key to success in this role.

What will you do?

Build new customer advocates from newly completed sales.Deepen and broaden Thermo Fisher Scientific’s customer relationships with key academic and industry leaders.Own responsibility for all pre- and post-sales activities in managed region for products and applications supported by the team in alignment with internal stake holdersBuild a multifaceted, flexible team environment that allows for creative problem solving.Actively work with the team to build relationships within the company and to continually improve skills of team members for future career growth.Identify individual or group training needs and coordinate appropriate and timely training.Communicate market intelligence and voice of customer (VOC) information obtained during customer interactions to Director Applications AMER, Vertical Marketing, and Product ManagementPlan and participate in user meeting events.Manage timely execution of all pre- and post-sales activities and report on all aspects of team activitiesEnsure compliance with all Thermo Fisher Scientific internal and external processes and valuesTrack and report team relevant key performance indicators.Monitor team operating expenses to ensure compliance with established budgets.Ability to travel a minimum of 50% will be required.Demonstrate Role Model Leader characteristicsEmbody the 4-I valuesDelight customersCommunicate openly and honestlyFocus on growthChampion employee development

How will you get here?

Master's or PhD in a relevant fieldMinimum of 5 years of related work experienceStrong experience in discovery liquid chromatography mass spectrometry techniques.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Illinois is $93,800.00–$140,675.00.
