What You Will AchieveAs a Manager, Data Solutions Engineer, you will be part of a development team working on digital data solutions in AIDA R&D.
You will develop data focused solutions with a team of peer developers, digital client partners, architects, platform leads and contract support personnel. You will take lead in developing these solutions with Sr. Associate/Associate Solution and Data Engineer colleagues and contracted personnel working under your directions.
You will be a technical member and/or SME of a scrum development or project team using appropriate development methodologies (agile, waterfall, hybrid, etc.). You will work closely with Product and Solution Leads, Scrum Masters, Project Managers, Engineers and other Developers, Client Partners, vendor partners and others to accomplish the team’s and the organization’s goals.
You will be responsible for delivering high quality data solutions. This role requires strong collaboration skills, the ability to work independently with a focus on high quality and a strong sense of accountability. The role also requires a strong desire for continuous learning to stay current with the rapidly evolving global data landscape and significant attention to detail and quality.
This is a hands-on data engineering role which will support our AIDA R&D ecosystem. Its scope includes a wide range of platforms, including but not limited to, AWS, Databricks and Snowflake. Ensuring data reliability, efficiency and quality is core to this role. You will contribute directly to coding (including testing, debugging, documenting) plus oversee and coach the engineering work of others.
How You Will Achieve ItDesign, develop, maintain and improve new and existing data solutions with a strong sense of accountability and attention to quality (mainly within a cloud hosted environment).
Design, develop and deliver projects that incorporate standards for data lakes, analytical reporting and web-based analytics solutions to achieve business outcomes. Identify, evaluate and recommend alternative design options when needed.
Provide technical guidance to and/or perform as technical lead/co-lead on moderately complex projects.
Align development activity with recommended architectures, platforms and coding standards. Ensures quality, security and privacy are built in.
Engage with business stakeholders to prioritize business requirements and identify opportunities for technical synergy.
Perform code reviews and testing of code written, including designing and writing automated workflows to allow for continuous delivery.
Ensure high data reliability, efficiency and quality standards are maintained and continuously improve engineering practices and processes.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Pfizer requirements as per SDLC and ADLC processes.
Exercise own judgment leveraging knowledge and experience, working independently with instruction on complex problems.
Develop technical solutions aligned with business requirements across the Pfizer AIDA R&D organization.
ETL Processes: Design and develop ETL processes to support data integration and analytics.
Mentor junior colleagues and provide feedback and corrections as necessary.
Additional Key Responsibilities:Data Architecture: Co-design and implement scalable data architectures for dynamic business use-cases.
Data Quality: Ensure data accuracy and integrity across all systems.
ETL Processes: Design and develop ETL processes to support data integration and analytics.
Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
5+ years of experience with data engineering.
Experience in leading development of data solutions.
Experience using AWS cloud services.
Experience with either Databricks or Snowflake.
Experience programming in Python and SQL.
Experience with Git Hub and CI/CD pipelines.
Flexible to changing priorities and comfortable in a fast-passed dynamic environment.
Superior analytical and creative problem-solving skills. Demonstrate successes in analysis, conclusions and improvement.
Strong problem-solving abilities with an analytic and qualitative eye for reasoning under pressure.
Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks with little to no supervision. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Familiarity on ETl workflows, data storage, index strategies, ingesting/indexing processes, transforming/normalizing data and data enrichment upon ingest.
Experience in managing project delivery via both Pfizer SDLC and ADLC process.
Proven experience engineering end-to-end data solutions which cut across data acquisition, data lakes, web based analytical solutions.

Relevant pharmaceutical industry experience
Graduate degree in either a technical or management discipline
Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, preferably within Research and Development
