Manager, Data Engineering (Remote)

As a Manager, Data Engineering, you will lead and develop a high-performing team responsible for building and maintaining scalable, stable data infrastructure and applications that enhance business decision-making and operational efficiency. This strategic, hands-on leader will ensure data systems and tools are aligned with Stryker’s enterprise IT and analytics priorities, partnering closely with the rest of the Medical Commercial Analytics team to power advanced analytics, reporting, and visualizations. You will bring deep expertise in data architecture and cloud technologies, with proven experience guiding technical execution and managing cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

What you will do

Run the talent offense: attract, develop, engage, and align employees. This includes setting clear and meaningful goals, establishing and sharing expectations, and delivering frequent performance feedback.Coach and manage a high-performing data engineering and app development team, providing project leadership across the day-to-day portfolio using Agile and Scrum methodologies.Demonstrate strong financial acumen by assessing the financial impact of current initiatives and evaluating new opportunities for value creation.Lead cross-functional collaboration with Stryker enterprise partners to leverage domain expertise, integrate capabilities, and identify new areas for scalable data solutions.Drive change management efforts, effectively navigating business resistance and guiding teams through transformation with clarity and confidence.Facilitate conversations with business stakeholders and data engineers to identify opportunities where data engineering and architecture can solve real-world business challenges.Mentor and coach team members to support professional growth and technical skill development, cultivating a culture of excellence and innovation.Serve as a technical expert in selecting and applying the most appropriate data engineering methods, tools, and technologies for various use cases and initiatives.Prepare and deliver clear, effective communications and presentations, translating complex technical topics for senior leadership and non-technical audiences.Provide expert guidance and leadership in diagnosing and resolving complex data engineering issues, ensuring reliability, quality, and scalability in solutions.

What you need

Required:

Bachelor’s degree.8+ years of work experience in a data related role.2+ years of people leadership experience.Experience leading end-to-end data engineering and architecture projects, including expertise in data modeling and storage design.Experience in SQL, Python, and/or Spark, with the ability to optimize data workflows, pipelines, and algorithms for performance and scalability.Experience in ETL/ELT pipeline development and data architecture, including data lake and data warehouse environments.Experience with Microsoft Azure, Azure Databricks and cloud-based infrastructure.Experience with Power BI and integrating engineered data into robust dashboards and analytics solutions.

Preferred:

Master’s degree.Experience with the Microsoft Power Platform, including PowerApps and Power Automate, with the ability to design and manage low-code applications and workflow automation solutions.Certifications in Azure.

$ 129,600.00 - $220,400.00 salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.

Travel Percentage: 10%
