It’s an exciting time in technology, and that buzz is felt throughout PetSmart! We are continuing to grow at a faster pace and we want to continue to provide best-in-class experiences for pets and pet parents.

Our Technology team has 6 different departments: Information Security, Service Delivery, Business Enabling Systems, eCommerce & Marketing Technology, Data and Stores, Services & Supply Chain.

 

Whether it’s online or in our stores, the work that the IT team does is instrumental in PetSmart’s success. We have a strategic and actionable plan underway and are looking for associates who are just as excited about it as we are.


About the Location

Collaborative & Flexible Work Environment: We believe in fostering growth, teamwork and creativity in a dynamic workplace. This role is based at PetSmart’s Phoenix Home Office, where associates currently enjoy the benefits of in-person collaboration while having the flexibility to work remotely one day per week (a “flex workday” with leader approval), and an expected four days in the office. Manager, Data Engineering

 

PetSmart LLC seeks a full-time Manager, Data Engineering based in Phoenix, AZ. The primary duty of the Manager, Data Engineering is to lead our company’s Data Technology team. The position plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our data-driven organization and contributes significantly to our success. Applying a strong background in Data Engineering, the Manager, Data Engineering is responsible for leading a team of engineers to develop and deliver high-quality products that align with our business objectives. Specific duties include: 1) Attract, lead, and develop a talented team of data engineers and machine learning engineers to deliver high-quality products within specified timelines and budget. Formulate team roles and responsibilities, actively recruit and select talent, and provide clear guidance and management to ensure high performance. 2) Develop and implement a comprehensive Technology strategy that aligns with PetSmart’s goals and objectives, with a specific focus on data product solutions. 3) Stay up to date with emerging Data Engineering technologies and best practices, and identify opportunities for their integration into our systems. 4) Collaborate with other department leaders to align Data Engineering initiatives with overall business objectives and priorities. Understand business requirements and identify opportunities to leverage data to drive business outcomes. 5) Accountable for project status, timelines and communication to stakeholders and executive leadership, ensuring transparency and alignment. 6) Build and maintain relationships with vendors and technology partners to leverage the latest technologies and innovations in the field. 7) Partner with external vendors to augment resources and meet project demands effectively. 8) Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring expenditures are in line with business objectives and goals. 9) Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, conveying technical information clearly and concisely. Actively engage in informal communication with team members and other stakeholders to promote continuous information exchange. 10) Foster a positive team atmosphere, encourage collaboration, and reward team behaviors that align with organizational goals.
