Manager, Corporate Development
What you'll do Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Corporate Development, the Manager, Corporate Development is a high-performing and results-oriented strategic thinker with the ability to manage projects related to acquisitions, investments, partnerships, etc. The team works with senior leaders across the organization to enable and execute on key strategic initiatives, with past and ongoing projects spanning all business units across Canadian Tire Corporation. The successful candidate for this position will exhibit strong business acumen and is comfortable working on fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous projects. In this role, you'll: + Contribute to the development of inorganic growth strategies (acquisitions, investments, partnerships, and emerging businesses) with business leaders across Canadian Tire Corporation (CTC) that aligns with our True North Strategy + Work with key internal/external stakeholders to conduct market analysis, target scans, and company research and assessment + Supervise, lead and ensure high quality in the financial analysis, modelling, valuation, risk evaluation, cost & benefit analyses, and business cases related to the opportunities + Contribute to evaluation, due diligence, negotiations, and developing project timelines and preliminary integration plans + Prepare investment memorandums and Executive and Board updates on opportunities, using and developing frameworks, playbooks and other communication tools to effectively identify, analyze, and recommend opportunities + Manage execution of divestitures and business wind-downs, strategic and operational support for complex business initiatives, and ongoing oversight of portfolio companies and investments + Support negotiations, deal structuring and the preparation/review of legal agreements (NDA, LOI, Term Sheets, Definitive Agreements, etc.) + Support the development and day-to-day management of high-performing Senior Consultants + Support special projects as required and provide strategic advice on the evolution of CTC’s portfolio of businesses What you bring + 5+ years of experience in a high-caliber team conducting financial analyses and producing deliverables for senior decision makers (e.g. professional services, corporate development, investment banking, etc.) + Experience conducting industry/market analysis, target scans, company and financial analysis and the development of new business opportunities and business cases + Excellent business acumen with proven ability to ‘connect the dots’ across several considerations + Strong financial acumen, including modelling, valuation, and business case development + Experience with building presentations, messaging and storytelling tailored to specific audiences + Proven project, client management and executive communication/presentation skills + Experience with due diligence, integration and post deal analytics (KPIs, strategic and financial advisory) + Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially PowerPoint and Excel, and market research tools, especially S&P Capital IQ + Proven success in gaining credibility and building trust with colleagues and senior-level decision-makers + Ability to independently navigate and contribute to discussions with various businesses and stakeholders + Comfort working with ambiguity and without direct authority + Retail industry and operational experience is considered an asset + Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines across multiple projects + Strong judgement and comfort in dealing with a senior audience and working with sensitive projects + Solid understanding and/or curiosity for Canadian retail + Completion of a financial designation (CPA, CFA) is considered an asset This role is based at our Toronto office, located at Yonge & Eglinton.
