Manager, Communications Business Partner

What Communications Business Partners contribute to Cardinal Health

Communications defines and executes communication and public relations strategies in support of the company's business objectives, image and reputation for both internal and external stakeholders. This function builds relationships with external stakeholders, including media and community organizations, and designs meetings and communications to leverage these relationships and promote the company.

Communications Business Partner engages various internal audiences in the purpose and priorities of Cardinal Health, key initiatives and strategies with the goal of accelerating company performance. This job family develops and distributes print-based and digital communications including corporate policy manuals, internal newsletters, process handbooks, and function-specific documents created in collaboration with subject matter experts. This job family evaluates employee engagement with internal communications and liaises with leaders to ensure dissemination of communications.

Job Summary

This position, primarily focused on internal communications, is responsible for the development and execution of comprehensive communication strategies and tactics to engage employees and stakeholders in support of business strategies and initiatives. The role applies communication principles and practices, contributing to the communications strategies for the Global Business and Financial Services (GBFS) team and the Pharmaceutical and Specialty Solutions (PSS) IT team within the Global Technology and Business Services (GTBS) organization.

Responsibilities

General

Manages a Consultant, Communications Business Partner, who also supports Global Business and Financial Services (GBFS) team and the Pharmaceutical and Specialty Solutions (PSS) IT team within the Global Technology and Business Services (GTBS) organizationCollaborates with executive leaders and other business partners to develop and implement strategic communication plans that reflect the company’s mission, values, brand and priorities all while mitigating riskSeeks and maintains comprehensive understanding of the businesses/functionsCollaborates with communications partners across Cardinal Health Communications & Enterprise Marketing to follow consistent communications processes, protocols and reporting standardsDevelops processes and protocols for existing and new initiatives and programs, primarily the promotion of events and other engagement activitiesDevelops and maintains effective working relationships with outside agencies and/or consultantsFocuses on creating and adapting content for site-specific audiences, including Cardinal Health International Philippines (CHIP)

Internal communications

Creates and coordinates internal announcements and change management communicationsSupports communication of technology issues and outages, known as TechAlertsCreates and manages content for internal channels (intranet, viva engage, digital signage, huddle guides, etc.)Supports internal cultural and engagement initiativesContent development and events/AV logistical planning for executive events (Town Halls, Let’s Chat sessions, etc.)Coordinates, creates and publishes content for weekly newsletters across the business

External communications

Counsel and support leaders and businesses/functions with external speaking opportunities, third-party endorsements and media requests, as needed

Social media

Ideates social content using both internal and external sources in collaboration with corporate partnersCoordinates business unit/function social initiatives with Enterprise social media team

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred6+ years of experience in communications, public relations or related field, preferredExperience leading a team of communication professionals, preferredExperience working with others globally or across regions, preferredExceptional oral and written communication skillsStrong curiosity, strategy skills and ability to persuadeStrong organizational and project management skillsSelf-directed, action-oriented, forward-thinking and innovative with high ethical standardsStrong analytical skills, good judgment and strong operational focusTeam player with the ability to work cross functionally with peers and other business leadersDemonstrated ability to achieve results individually through initiative and work collaboratively with others
