Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

The Manager role is responsible for the development and execution of impactful media relations strategies and campaigns for VERSANT’s entertainment cable networks (Oxygen, E!, USA, & SYFY) and digital platforms (Fandango and Rotten Tomatoes). Reporting to the VP, of Entertainment Communications, the manager will be a key member of the team by supporting and managing PR campaigns that will generate high-quality earned media for the cable networks and digital platforms.  The candidate must have experience in PR, publicity or communications role(s) as well as an interest in entertainment and the TV industry.  Ideal candidate will be a creative, motivated self-starter with a team-focused attitude, and a solutions-oriented approach.

Essential Responsibilities

Manage and execute PR campaigns including ownership and responsibility for specific tacticsGenerate all press materials, including announcement releases, bios, captions, talking points, loglines, pitch letters and correspondence.Foster strong contacts with print, online and electronic media.Pitch stories to trade and consumer press to support overall series campaigns and PR initiatives.Secure stories, manage and staff interviews and events, compile and present comprehensive campaign coverage and analysis. Develop and manage positive relationships with the actors, producers, publicists, agents, managers, production staff, media and executives.Serve as project manager for special promotional activities including publicity parties, press conferences and screenings.Possess a strong understanding of and experience with social media.Work closely with program executives, producers, business affairs and legal to garner approval of written materials and campaign initiatives.Coordinate closely with internal partners including programming, marketing and social teams.Work with VERSANT Communications team to support all properties and events across departments.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications or a related industry fieldMust have minimum 5 years of experience in a Communications-related role preferably in television/entertainment/digital publicitySuperior written and verbal communications skillsExperience pitching, booking and covering national and local media interviewsEffective multi-tasker with the ability to juggle several series in various stages of developmentStrategic and critical thinker that can identify critical content and or talent issues to elevate in a timely mannerAbility to develop interesting and unusual creative ideas to help set the networks apart in the pressSolid organizational/creative skills, detail oriented, collaborative team player Ability and proven track record working with high profile talent, talent representatives, producers and executives as well as positive media relationshipsProactive self-starter with the ability to think big and innovateSome travel and weekend work required

Additional Information: 

Salary Range for this role: $75,000 -$90,000 USD
