Responsibilities

The Social Media Manager oversees the execution of Mayo Clinic’s enterprise social media strategy and manages the day-to-day operations of the social media team. This role ensures consistent and coordinated, high-performing delivery aligned with enterprise priorities, audience needs, and modern platform best practices.

Working with defined strategic direction, the Social Media Manager translates strategy into execution, and optimizes content for algorithm-driven distribution, audience alignment and platform best practices, while strengthening cross-functional planning to drive cohesive storytelling, tiered channel delivery and reduce duplication.

The role uses data and performance insights to guide decisions, improve results, and strengthen brand reputation in support of enterprise communication goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Execute enterprise social media strategyLead the enterprise social media team, managing day-to-day operations and performance.Oversee publishing workflows, calendar management and operational coordinationEnsure adherence to established social media governance, standards, training and internal resources to ensure consistent enterprise alignment and best practicesOptimize content for platform algorithms and audience alignmentApply data, personas and benchmarks to guide channel decisionsMonitor performance and recommend continuous improvementsStrengthen cross-team coordination to ensure integrated storytellingSupport modernization of content delivery processes

Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field plus 5 years of relevant work experience.Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate in a way that creates clarity, simplifies messages, and aligns with organizational strategy. Knowledge of channels for communication and the ability to build effective communication and engagement strategies.

Must be a self-starter with the ability to independently identify opportunities, solutions and resolve challenges. Demonstrated ability to deliver impactful results. Requires an attitude that actively seeks out change, embraces critical questioning, innovation, service and continuous improvement. Must understand how to deal with and navigate ambiguity, and act without having the total picture. Adaptable or flexible. Demonstrated professionalism and ethics, with ability to earn credibility through integrity and transparency. Role models service excellence. Motivates others by being present, engaged, attentive, invites diverse perspectives, demonstrates and inspires a collaborative spirit.

Demonstration of strong management skills including strategy and visioning, change management, resource management, and sound judgment are required. Demonstrated use of management principles of delegation, organization and execution to maximize the value of projects and initiatives is also essential. Excellent interpersonal skills to include presentation, negotiation, persuasion, team facilitation, constructive feedback and written communications skills are required. Superior project management experience, knowledge and skills must be demonstrated. Incumbent must have the ability to independently manage a varied workload of projects with multiple priorities. Demonstrates interest in continuous learning and professional development, in addition to functional area expertise.


Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate has experience managing enterprise social media channels and teams, with a strong knowledge of modern platforms and algorithm-driven distribution. They bring expertise in governance, audience analysis, and content optimization, apply data to inform decisions, and demonstrate strong operational leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
