This role ensures proper capitalization, funding governance, impairment analysis, compliance with GAAP, and alignment with company policies. The manager will work closely with project managers, finance teams, and auditors to ensure accurate and timely reporting of CIP and fixed assets.Key Responsibilities: + Manage accounting for all construction in progress (CIP) projects across the organization. + Monitor and track capital project costs, ensuring accuracy and appropriate classification. + Review and reconcile CIP accounts monthly, preparing journal entries as needed. + Oversee the capitalization process and ensure timely transfer of completed projects to fixed assets. + Collaborate with project managers to validate project timelines, and expenditures. + Oversee funding governance for all approval request above a certain threshold. + Lead the annual impairment analysis process for CIP and fixed assets, identifying indicators of impairment, evaluating project viability, and coordinating with stakeholders to record necessary adjustments. + Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures related to capital projects. + Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and analysis related to CIP. + Coordinate with Procurement and Accounts Payable to ensure proper coding and approval of capital expenditures. Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred. + 5+ years of experience in accounting. + Strong understanding of GAAP and capital project accounting. + Experience performing asset impairment testing and related financial analysis is preferred. + Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite). + Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. + Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
