General Summary

Performs routine and special mammography procedures at an advanced specialist skills and knowledge level according to established practices and procedures. Oversees the work of other technicians/technologists by training, allocating and monitoring work. May function as the Quality Control technologist.

Duties and Responsibilities

Performs mammography studies. Obtains patient history; explains routine procedures and addresses patient concerns. Oversees the work of other personnel by training, allocating and monitoring work. Performs work of a similar nature. Under the direction of a Team Leader, is responsible for training other technologists, certifying that technologists meet competencies. Maintains department quality assurance program. Positions patients safely and comfortably and explains basic procedure. Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department. Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations. Performs the duties of Radiographer as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

High School Diploma or GED Required

Work Experience:

5 years or more of mammography experience. Required

Licenses:

Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required and Registered Technologist-Mammography - ARRT Upon Hire Required

Courses and Training:

Accredited program in radiologic technology and training in mammography procedures. Upon Hire Required
