Hours: M-F 7:00-3:30  or 7:30-4:00 with 1 Sat. per month 8-4:30- 

Experience Requirement: Must have 2 Years of Mammo Tech and  Stereotactic biopsy experience 

Preference:  Ultrasound experience 

Certification Requirement: Medical Radiologic Tech (MRT): Licensed by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT).

ARRT-M Mammography (ARRT-M): Must have ARRT-R and ARRT-M.  ARRT-R Radiography (ARRT-R): .

Patient Population: Adult male and female patients

Avg. number of clinic exams per day: 70-100

Number of rooms: 3 mammo, 2 ultrasound and 1 Dexa

 

Job Summary

The Mammography Technologist 2, under a Radiologist's supervision, performs advanced Breast Imaging procedures. These are done on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or licensed provider. This is for diagnosing disease and injury according to established protocols.

Essential Functions of the RolePerforms high-quality Breast Imaging procedures according to exam protocol, promptly. Maintains production and quality by following established standards and procedures.Utilizes AIDET to communicate with patients. Identifies patient service needs. Ensures the correct exam is performed on the correct patient. Establishes rapport with patients and others. Instructs and communicates with patients and their families about the test. Assesses the patient's ability to tolerate the exam.Prepares the patient and area for the procedure by positioning the patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into position, and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.Protects patients and employees by following safety, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies, protocols, and techniques. Uses proper sterile techniques for invasive multimodality procedures and maintains hand hygiene.Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal equipment operation. Reports issues to management or the appropriate department. Assists in maintaining the supplies inventory.Ensures people are safe to enter the department by screening them according to approved policies and procedures.Obtains, verifies, and maintains all relevant documentation. This includes requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status, shielding precautions, consent forms, policies, and procedures.Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate systems and according to department policies and standards for interpretation promptly.Key Success FactorsAble to perform high quality Breast Imaging procedures including stereotactic biopsies, needle localization, ultrasound-guided biopsies.Able to explain the procedure and put patients at ease.Able to provide services timely, accurately, and cost-efficient in compliance with established System and regulatory standards, policies and procedures.Able to perform tasks autonomously without need for routine oversight.Able to stay calm and helpful during stress and take reasonable steps to resolve issues.Able to effectively administer first aid and use emergency cart.Ensure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous service. QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION - Grad of an Accredited ProgramEXPERIENCE - 2 Years of Mammography Tech and  Stereotactic biopsy experience requiredCERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -

Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.

Medical Radiologic Tech (MRT): Licensed by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT).

ARRT-M Mammography (ARRT-M): Must have ARRT-R and ARRT-M.
