Job Description We are seeking a sharp, motivated Maintenance Worker (who loves the outdoors) to join a large educational and research institution supporting their observatory campus in Amado, AZ (south of Tucson). In this role, the Maintenance Worker will oversee general grounds and business maintenance for the observatory campus spanning 16 buildings across 20km. On a day-to-day basis, the Electrician will be provided a company vehicle to navigate the remote campus, so candidates are required to have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record. Because this role is in a remote location south of Tucson, the right candidate will be comfortable and excited about working in the outdoors, driving across locations, and driving unpaved access roads. This maintenance worker will spend majority of their time outside, so candidates must be excited to spend their days in the remote outdoors. Day-to-day responsibilities: General maintenance of buildings and grounds within observatory campus General plumbing troubleshooting, including faucet repair Vegetation maintenance, including chain sawing, weed eating, groundskeeping, and some trail maintenance Prior experience with heavy equipment operations (loaders and forklifts) Provide general maintenance across the observatory campus spanning 16 buildings over 20km Drive and walk between sites and projects Provide light drywall and carpentry support as needed We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day.
