Maintenance technician Team Lead
Position OverviewUnited Health Services (UHS) is seeking a Maintenance Lead to supervise skilled mechanics and general maintenance staff while supporting daily facility operations. Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, this role ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with departmental expectations. The Maintenance Lead must demonstrate strong competency as a skilled mechanic in their area of expertise and serve as a resource for troubleshooting and technical guidance. This position is also responsible for managing the preventative maintenance program to help reduce operational disruptions and maintain a safe, functional environment. The Maintenance Lead will coordinate schedules, oversee work quality, and support continuous improvement efforts to keep the facility operating smoothly and reliably. Primary Department, Division, or Unit: Primary Work Shift: Day Compensation Range: $27.80 - $41.69 per hour, depending on experience You will be eligible for benefits if you are hired into a regular position with at least 24 scheduled weekly hours. ----- Job Responsibilities + Supervise assigned mechanics by prioritizing work orders, assigning daily duties, scheduling paid time off, and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. + Ensure compliance with Service Delivery Standards and make staffing recommendations to the Engineering Supervisor regarding hiring, discipline, or termination. + Oversee corrective, emergency, and preventative maintenance activities for assigned areas. + Conduct daily rounds and report facility conditions to the Work Control Supervisor. + Review maintenance work orders, schedule tasks, and ensure timely, accurate completion and documentation within the computerized maintenance system. + Ensure all work sites are cleaned appropriately and tools are returned to proper storage. + Recommend capital improvements, equipment upgrades, and supply needs; complete requisition forms as required. + Perform skilled mechanical duties within assigned areas and assist in staff training. + Provide labor and material estimates and obtain vendor quotations when needed. + Enforce safety regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and New York State Department of Labor requirements, and organizational safety policies. + Maintain inventory of spare parts and supplies for assigned shops and perform shop‑specific duties based on specialty (for example, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or general maintenance). + Coordinate with landlords and Physician Practice leadership to maintain safe environments and operational standards. + Manage snow removal and grounds contractors, daily operations, staffing coverage, overtime, and 24/7/365 scheduling needs. + Support budget development and manage operations within approved operating and capital budgets. Position Qualifications + Minimum Required: + High School Diploma or GED. + Seven (7) years experience in operational level maintenance and engineering. + Demonstrated experience at the Maintenance Tech III Level. + Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing. + Preferred: + Graduation from Trade School. + 7 years’ experience in operational level maintenance and engineering, with 4 years’ being hospital experience. + Must have experience leading a team through maintenance tasks and projects, and leadership experience. ----- Why You’ll Love Working at UHS At United Health Services (UHS), we believe every connection—to patients, to purpose, to each other—makes a difference.
