Job Description

Position Purpose: 

Assist with the day-to-day operations of a water and wastewater treatment plant.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities: 

Maintaining the facility treatment units and equipment. Identify and report the need for repairs to treatment plant equipment such as pumps, valves, motors, blowers, and chemical feed equipment.Responsible for maintaining property in good order to include housekeeping and grounds-upkeep.Conducts routine testing and records test results and maintains the plant logbook with accurate and timely entries of activities.Assist with distribution sample collection and testing.Assist with industrial sample collection and monitoring.Utilizes computers and software as assigned.Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however limited exposure to higher noise level (within OSHA standards) may occur.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background: 

High School Diploma/GED is required.Approximately 1½ years industry experience.Strong mechanical and maintenance background.Basic electrical experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

Ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English.Good communication skills, written and oral.Computer skills in Microsoft Office.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training: 

Ability to obtain NC Grade 2 Biological Wastewater Operator Certification or higher.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb stairs or ladders; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to distinguish color, close vision and distance vision.
