About the role
Add Details Demonstrates leadership in the area of safety. This requires observing and enforcing safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe behavior, which may lead to accidents. Continually endorse the Quality & Food Safety Policies, assure conformance to all requirements of the Quality & Food Safety Management Systems, & take action to properly report failures of these systems to site management.
Key responsibilities
Responsible for repairs to plant equipment, installation of new equipment, and building maintenance as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Maintains a positive attitude amidst unplanned events and a willingness to be flexible with work volume and type.
• Willingness to contribute to the greater plant as a liaison to safety, quality, engineering, or production programs.
1. Contribute to plant-wide programs in safety, quality, engineering, or production.
2. Knowledge of PLCs with ability to program.
3. Must be able to calibrate and troubleshoot food safety critical control points (CCCs).
4. Ability to weld, to include stainless Steele
5. Demonstrates a strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues without direct oversight.
6. Work with various hand tools, power tools, welders and cutting equipment to repair plant equipment.
7. Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment; work with low voltage DC and 120, 220 and 480 volt AC power based on Electrician guidelines.
8. Repair, assembly and/or installation of various valves, food grade and non-food grade, pumps and motors
9. Must be able to perform rotating equipment repair such as replacement of seals, impeller, casings and bearings. Perform daily PMs as assigned.
10. Repair refrigeration and air conditioning equipment; work with ammonia and Freon with proper licensing.
11. Serves as “on call” outside of standard scheduled hours, as determined by the on-call schedule. During on-call times, must be available via phone and to come on site as requests necessitate.
12. Based on skill, may install sanitary and non-sanitary welded and threaded low pressure piping.
13. Ability to proficiently use Kerry Systems, to include SAP, CMMS and MySuccess
14. Works in confined spaces as required.
15. Performs relief work as a Boiler Mechanic, as licensing and schedules necessitate.
16. Operate forklift and aerial lifts.
17. Obtain necessary permits for Hot Work, Confined Space, LOTO as needed and in accordance with Company Safety Protocols.
18. Other duties as assigned Help as required in the parts storeroom. A Maintenance Tech will be subject to working in areas of high noise level and in areas of hazards from wet floors. Burn hazards may exist when working on steam powered equipment. High degree of mobility is necessary as job requires much climbing, crawling, bending, and twisting. The ability to lift long and heavy lengths of pipe above the head and work from ladders, manlifts, etc. sometimes at heights exceeding 20 feet above the floor is required. Vessel entry and working in confined spaces may be required. The ability to work outside for periods of time in temperatures varying from below zero to above 100°F is also required. The ability to apply force to lift heavy equipment and operate wrenches, hammers, pry bars, etc. and apply sufficient force to tighten large nuts and bolts is also required. The ability to regularly lift 25 lbs is required as well as the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Qualifications and skills
Role Description, Skills, Experience and Qualifications required 2 Year Degree from credited program and/or individual certifications in specialized area of maintenance. 5+ years experience required. Prior experience in a food manufacturing facility preferred. Mechanical Repair, General Welding, some Electrical Troubleshooting, PLC troubleshooting, ability to use hand tools, hand-held power tools, and basic computer skills. Must have the ability to work alone and in close cooperation with production personnel. Capable of working through complex problems alone or with others to provide logical Solutions.
The pay rate for this position is $40.00 per hour.
