Maintenance Tech / Driver
**MAINTENANCE TECH & DRIVER - FULL TIME** **MAINTENANCE TECH (3 DAYS - MON, WED, FRI) - DRIVER (2 DAYS-TUES/THURS)** **JOB PURPOSE:** **Maintenance Tech -** Assists in repairs and maintenance of physical structure of nursing center in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and our established procedural guidelines, and as may be directed by supervisor. **Driver** - Assists the transportation driver in providing safe and timely transportation to and from appointments for the residents. He (she) will be available to accompany the transportation driver with each transport of a resident. In Addition the transportation aide will assist in other trips for the facility as deemed necessary by the supervisor, administrator or designee. **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (MAINTENANCE TECH & DRIVER):** 1. Performs routine maintenance of air conditioners/heaters. 2. Uses pressure washer as requested. 3. Uses electrical tools and equipment when appropriate. (Including voltmeter, drills, saws, etc.) 4. Checks oxygen level of concentrators as requested or needed. 5. Performs routine maintenance of oxygen concentrator as scheduled/needed. 6. Performs water temperature tests as requested/scheduled. 7. Tests fire alarm systems as scheduled/needed. 8. Tests fire safety equipment as scheduled/needed 9. Builds various structures for the use of the patients, e.g., benches, flower boxes, and other carpentry work requiring the use of various materials (wood, plaster, cement, nails, etc.) 10. Completes general maintenance, plumbing repair, replacing and unclogging hair traps, unplugging toilets, repairing washers and dryer, replacing broken pipes/water lines etc. 11. Maintains and replaces electrical outlets and light bulbs and rewires or replaces wiring in various equipment used by the center. 12. Installs and checks batteries of smoke alarms. 13. Assists in fire drills. Also checks extinguishers and assists fire Marshall with inspection. 14. Removes furniture and clothing form rooms no longer occupied, or assists in the moving to another room of patient’s belongings e.g. furniture etc. 15. Paints interior or exterior of center as requested/needed. Also, may include wallpapering. 16. Assists in the construction of any additions onto the center. 17. Maintains the grounds of the center to provide that they are free of garbage; also, may include mowing of lawn, trimming hedges, weeding, etc. 18. Performs routine laundry equipment maintenance as scheduled/needed. 19. Performs unscheduled maintenance tasks as requested. 20. Performs generator testing and routine maintenance as scheduled/needed. 21. Assists with major cleaning projects as requested/needed. 1. Loading Passengers a. Safely load wheel chairs b. Secure all four floor straps to the chair (both rear straps must be secured above the axle) c. Snap the long side of the lap belt to the D-ring on the rear strap. d. Pull shoulder adjustment strap completely out. (strap must be pulled straight out or it will lock) e. Place lap and shoulder belt around resident and snap short side of the lap belt to the ring on the rear strap. f. Tighten lap belt 2. Unloading Passengers a. Loosen lap belt. b. Remove lap and shoulder belt around resident and unsnap both sides of the lap belt from the D-ring on the rear strap. Leave lap belt attached to shoulder belt and allow it to pull back to the van wall. c. Loosen all four straps. d. Unload all wheelchairs. 3. Safely transports residents utilizing appropriate mobility apparatus 4. Has all paper work ready for each appointment 5. Makes sure the resident is clean, neat, and shaved, etc 6. Has resident at the front lobby in time for the transport. 7. Stays with the resident for their appointment. 8. Provides any patient care that is required while resident is out of the facility 9. Helps safely secure resident in the van 10. Makes sure the resident has had an early breakfast tray or lunch tray when indicated 11. Assists in cleaning the van after the end of the day’s transports. 12. Works closely with the activity director and DOHS to maintain appointment schedules and outside activities. **KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES** 1. Professional appearance 2. Communicates well with patients/residents/clients and family members providing warm and friendly greeting and an approachable attitude to families, visitors, patients/residents/clients and responds to expressed concerns while displaying a helpful, caring demeanor 3. Answers questions when appropriate in a professional manner **MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:** On-the-job training provided. **ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:** High School graduate or equivalent. Licensed as appropriate to drive the van. Must be CRP Certified.
