Position Summary Information
Position Summary
+ Locate and reset tripped breakers, switches, outlets and lights.
+ Repair, maintain/pm, power generation equipment.
+ Read and understand blue prints, schematics, wiring diagrams, piping diagrams, electrical diagrams, utility prints.
+ Maintain, repair or replace scrubbers, sweepers, air compressors, exhaust fans, pumps, HVAC units, saws, air handlers, roof top units, kitchen equipment (dish machines, mixers, slicers, toaster, ovens, etc.).
+ Athletic and exercise equipment such as weight machines, mechanical and portable basketball hoops, exercise bikes, pitching machines, laundry equipment, etc.
+ Make mechanical repairs to various types of kitchen equipment. Including exhaust fans, exhaust hoods and air filtration equipment.
+ Order parts and materials, grease, oil, change bearings, pulleys, fan belts, gears, shafts, filters, blades, coupling, chains, sprockets, gears, bushings & squirrel cages.
+ Perform preventative maintenance, fabricate, construct or install with wood or metal; interpret from plans, sketches, drawings or blueprints; use various epoxies, glues, insulation solvents, fiberglass, and cements.
+ Have knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of building trades.
+ Basic hand tools, VOM meter, amp clamp, hydraulic knock-out, sanders, grinders, hydraulic press, pullers, gauges, oxygen/acetylene torches, brazing, soldering and welding materials, electric saws, drills for wood, metal or concrete; shears and drill presses.
+ Must have knowledge of basic hand tools, power tools and personal protective equipment used by building trades.
+ Perform inspections and lubrication of all University equipment and machinery.
+ Repair of equipment and machinery as assigned.
+ Inspect and change air filters and media in uni-vents , air handling units and energy recovery units.
+ Mechanical repair of all heating/ventilating units.
+ Repair of custodial & pool cleaning equipment.
+ Repairs and maintenance on fans, pumps, HVAC equipment.
+ Iron and metal work – repair and construct by welding, brazing.
+ All general mechanical repair not covered by other trades.
+ Employee to exercise technical independence in determining work methods and procedures and receive assignments orally or through written instructions which may be accompanied by sketches or diagrams.
+ Abide with and utilize University safety policies, procedures and protective equipment .
+ Work with the Safety Office on the availability to perform maintenance on certain chemical hoods.
+ Collect equipment info such as data for work order system; used for preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance work orders via making note of equipment info and tagging equipment throughout the campus.
+ Perform related work as assigned.
+ Maintain valid PA State drivers license.

Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. A successful campus interview and passing a criminal background check required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with diverse populations preferred.
